At the risk for earning a reputation as a party planner, I have a thing for everyone to attend again. Don't worry, lots of other people are helping pull it together. It's going to be on New Year's Eve, but the real event is the countdown to Winn's birthday which is also on the first. It's going to be in a club we rented out for this in the red shift district. Starts around seven-ish. Ends when you pass out?

It's kind of a surprise maybe? At least the part where it's for his birthday. And if you don't know Winn but you still want to come that's fine too. You can trade a gift for Winn for a free drink at the bar. Otherwise, bring some money. Cake's on us though.

[Birthday/New Year's Party]
[The space is well decorated and so glittered you can probably tell Wrath was part of the team putting this together. Lots of Winn's friends came out to help whether it was getting decorations up, managing food, music, or chipping in to buy out the space and a drink for anyone bringing a gift. Not to mention drinks for the birthday boy all night.

There's a table for presents and another one with a spread of openly available food though the bar has appetizers you can buy too. There's a big cake at one end because of course there is and some punch that didn't start the night spiked at least. There's space for dancing and a karaoke machine set up on a small raised platform for those who want to try their hand at entertainment.

The night really kicks off when Winn walks in and instead of a balloon drop there's a fluffy blue stuffed bear drop. Feel free to take one of those home. There are a lot.

When midnight comes closer some people will file out to one of the observation areas to get a good view of the nebula for the big countdown. Bring your own person to kiss!

[He lets out a small, amused huff as he rolls his eyes at Misty. Y'Allah, he can't say he missed this one bit. Even if he's smiling from ear to ear and gingerly holding his usual mug of tea as if it's priceless.

Stefan might've enjoyed that dance way more than he wants to let on.]

Her name is Kate, and you know how I feel about dating. Unless she's Muslim, or at least somewhat religious, it's probably not happening.

Well I don't know, she could be. Anyway you looked like you were having fun.

I guess I was, huh? [He elbows her, a little more gently than usual.] What about you? Anyone here that could be Mr. Misty Day?

Oh, I don't know if I'd go so far as all that.

[Marriage is not even remotely on her radar - baby steps. Still, she blushes.]

But there are some real cute boys in the fleet.

So I've heard. Which makes me ask, are any of those real cute boys here? As in, can you point any of them out so I can at least pretend to scowl at them?

[He'll apologize later. Maybe. Once he's crashed from his sugar and caffeine high.]

[She giggles.] No, unless you count Maglor. But he ain't so much cute as...

[What's the word for it? Misty hums thoughtfully, trying to decide the best way to describe him.]

[Stefan had been about to take a sip of hot cocoa when he hears. He should've seen that coming, he really really should have. But he's close to spit-taking, so he hastily swallows down his surprise (and hot cocoa).]

You know, uh - he's - he's kind of my uncle?

What?

[She had been about to eat a cracker with some sort of what can only be described as goop (albeit delicious smelling goop) on it, but now it hovers uncertainly in the air as she stares at Stefan.]

How can he be your uncle?

[stefanged]

It's a long story. Like, the kind that I'll tell you once we get home.

[He places both hands around his mug, holding it as a security blanket.]

But the short version: I grew up with a version of him. He was best friends with my parents, so uh - he kind of became my uncle too.

Ohhh okay, like you and Dr. Crusher, how you aren't blood related but you're still kin.

[stefanged]

Exactly. Part of me's always going to think of him as family, even if we were never related to begin with.

[mistyday]

Well, you don't have to worry. I don't want to date him or nothing, he's just... pretty like a person in one of them old Renaissance paintings or something.

[stefanged]

In that case, carry on. [He laughs at the mental image, because well? She isn't wrong.] I can listen to anything, as long as it doesn't end with me calling you Aunt Misty.

[mistyday]

[She laughs.]

Oh no, I don't want that either, it'd be weird as hell.

[stefanged]

Isn't it? [He lets out a small, amused huff.] You're family, but you're not like, that kind of family.

[mistyday]

Yeah you don't generally take your aunt to a New Year's dance.

[stefanged]

Y'Allah. If I ever go there, you have full permission to slap me out of my misery.

[Except his grin betrays his true (not that exasperated) emotions.]

[She salutes.]

Will do, Cap'n.

Good. In the meantime, uh - there's hot cocoa here, and I'm pretty sure it's calling your name.

[He reaches out for her arm with his free hand, fully intent on dragging her to share some with him. They'll dance later, once he's recharged and ready, but right now? He's just glad to have her at his side.]
