At the risk for earning a reputation as a party planner, I have a thing for everyone to attend again. Don't worry, lots of other people are helping pull it together. It's going to be on New Year's Eve, but the real event is the countdown to Winn's birthday which is also on the first. It's going to be in a club we rented out for this in the red shift district. Starts around seven-ish. Ends when you pass out?

It's kind of a surprise maybe? At least the part where it's for his birthday. And if you don't know Winn but you still want to come that's fine too. You can trade a gift for Winn for a free drink at the bar. Otherwise, bring some money. Cake's on us though.

[Birthday/New Year's Party]
[The space is well decorated and so glittered you can probably tell Wrath was part of the team putting this together. Lots of Winn's friends came out to help whether it was getting decorations up, managing food, music, or chipping in to buy out the space and a drink for anyone bringing a gift. Not to mention drinks for the birthday boy all night.

There's a table for presents and another one with a spread of openly available food though the bar has appetizers you can buy too. There's a big cake at one end because of course there is and some punch that didn't start the night spiked at least. There's space for dancing and a karaoke machine set up on a small raised platform for those who want to try their hand at entertainment.

The night really kicks off when Winn walks in and instead of a balloon drop there's a fluffy blue stuffed bear drop. Feel free to take one of those home. There are a lot.

When midnight comes closer some people will file out to one of the observation areas to get a good view of the nebula for the big countdown. Bring your own person to kiss!

[Wanda could sense him approaching, and, admittedly, looks a little ruffled by it. She's not used to being approached by strangers in a party. Hell, she cannot even claim to be used to parties period. Still, she figures it might be rude to just ignore him and walk away -- especially if he's a fellow fleet member who she may have to work or fight alongside someday.]

No one in particular, no. Mostly I am wondering what I'm even doing here.

[She's trying to not sound callous. Merely instead voicing her discomfort with the present situation -- a party she was invited to, yet doesn't know quite why.]

[He picks up on her tension, but it's hard to figure out why exactly, though it's true that he's not the biggest fan of large parties. Maybe she's just shy?]

I'm wondering that myself a little.

[She looks him over. There was a weird sort of familiar aura she was picking up off him. What was it exactly?]

Parties with lots of people are not really my thing.

Especially when I do not know any of them.

[Well, that wasn't completely true. She'd met Wrath once before, right after she'd woken up. So, that was at least one familiar face.]

[He gives her a small,sympathetic nod as he continues to watch the room]

I've met Winn. Once. On the network. And that guy over there. [Kirk is in the crowd somewhere, and Kaidan points a chin in his direction]

...yeah that's about it.

[Wanda follows the gesture over to Kirk. She watches him for a moment before her gaze shifts over the faces off the crowd. Lingering first on Wrath and then on Kitty.]

Feels sort of intrusive. I don't feel like I earned the invitation.

But you were invited, right? Someone thought you were worth the effort.

[Wanda looks vaguely annoyed by that comment, but she keeps her tone level if not just a little bit edged.]

Someone may have thought wrong...

[After a moment, she sighs and adds.]

I'm not the person they likely think I am.

[A pinscratch frown appears on his face as he watches the party. It's not to feel like he's stepped wrong somewhere and he isn't sure how. He's been great at talking to women, even when he's not trying to flirt with them]

I'm sorry. Look...I'm not sure I understand what's going on here, but...I don't know you either, and I shouldn't assume I do. So...let me start over. I'm Kaidan. I've been here about a month and I don't really know anyone here. I don't like clubs or parties because they're too loud and they give me headaches, but Winn was a big help when I got here, so I figured it'd be nice to show up.

[Wanda looks him over as he re-introduces himself. Her face a more or less remaining a stern mask. But when he's finished, there's a flick at the corner of her mouth. The smallest sign of a grin.]

Wanda. I am not big on clubs or parties either for the same reason.

[Though for her, it was a different kind of loud. There was the music, sure. But there was also the white noise around her of everyone's feelings and emotions. She's not focused on anyone, so she can't read their thoughts exactly; however, her powers still keep supplying a constant drone of input to her. No wonder she's standing as off to the side as she is.]

I have only been here for three weeks myself. [Another strange look crosses her face for a moment, and then she adds:] Though I keep being told otherwise...
