At the risk for earning a reputation as a party planner, I have a thing for everyone to attend again. Don't worry, lots of other people are helping pull it together. It's going to be on New Year's Eve, but the real event is the countdown to Winn's birthday which is also on the first. It's going to be in a club we rented out for this in the red shift district. Starts around seven-ish. Ends when you pass out?

It's kind of a surprise maybe? At least the part where it's for his birthday. And if you don't know Winn but you still want to come that's fine too. You can trade a gift for Winn for a free drink at the bar. Otherwise, bring some money. Cake's on us though.

[Birthday/New Year's Party]
[The space is well decorated and so glittered you can probably tell Wrath was part of the team putting this together. Lots of Winn's friends came out to help whether it was getting decorations up, managing food, music, or chipping in to buy out the space and a drink for anyone bringing a gift. Not to mention drinks for the birthday boy all night.

There's a table for presents and another one with a spread of openly available food though the bar has appetizers you can buy too. There's a big cake at one end because of course there is and some punch that didn't start the night spiked at least. There's space for dancing and a karaoke machine set up on a small raised platform for those who want to try their hand at entertainment.

The night really kicks off when Winn walks in and instead of a balloon drop there's a fluffy blue stuffed bear drop. Feel free to take one of those home. There are a lot.

When midnight comes closer some people will file out to one of the observation areas to get a good view of the nebula for the big countdown. Bring your own person to kiss!

That's good. You'd have to judge most of the people you know the same. [Then again in Winn's tight circle of friends it's pretty diverse.]

That just sounds exhausting and boring, pass.

So what are you drinking? [Clasps his shoulder.]

[ he mulls that over for a second. if he's smart - which he usually is - he'll go for something light, it's a long night and it's not his first drink of the evening. but at the same time, an immature part of him wants to prove his masculinity - henceforth known as that thing that makes him stupid - by ordering a cooler kind of drink. ]

What d'you recommend, barman?

[ stupidity has won the day. ]

The Crimson Nebula is popular where I work. [With a large number of female patrons, but he's not bothered by any of this.] It's good. Fruity. [Normally he likes to hit more basic hard alcohol instead of cocktails, but his tolerance isn't what it was and this seems like a special occasion. Besides, it is plenty strong.]

Why not, let's give it a whirl.

[ he wouldn't think to order himself something like that but if a guy like mon-el recommends it... ]

[He slips around the bar and looks around until he finds a dark red bottle and a couple of clear ones and starts mixing two of them in tall glasses and before he's done he mixes in edible glitter to give the appearance of stars. It's not something he'd think to order for himself normally, but he's had a few purchased for him while working and he's grown to like them. He pushes one forward to Winn.]

no, it's probably not, right. mon-el's from another planet. ]

[He's too secure in his masculinity to even consider this as a joke. And yet, Winn gets a laugh.] To look more like the nebula. [He takes a drink of the one he made for himself without chugging it. He can pace himself!]

[ good thought there, bro - if he drinks it he doesn't have to look at it! he takes a drink himself and hey -- at least it really does taste good. ]

Never knew nebulas were so sweet.

Oh, sure. Nebulas are always sweet. The real surprise comes in the bathroom later. [Sparkle poop!]

[ he frowns at that, trying to work his exact meaning out. did you put laxatives in his drink mon-el because that would be considered extremely not cool. ]

It's just glitter. If anyone else is seeing it, that's your real problem.

Why would anyone else...you know what, forget it, I don't wanna know. What happens in Daxam stays in Daxam.

[Hey that was his point! But he's just shaking his head.] It's a fun party. Lots of people came.

Yeah - [ he smiles, and a pesky thought comes up. ]

Pretty different from what you remember. [ of him, of his social circle. though he's sure some of these people are just here for the new year's eve part of the bash since he doesn't really know them, but still. even if only his friends showed up it'd be a lot more people than back home. ]

It'd be hard to fit all of this in Kara's apartment. [Which has comfortably housed all their other events.]

That'd be pretty crowded.

[ he concurs, but it's a sweet thought - all his friends at kara's. he takes another sip of his drink. ]

So you like it here? [He doesn't mean "at your birthday party."]

It's got...a lot of silver linings. [ but it's got a lot of disadvantages too. it's great, and he's going to miss his friends horribly, but he knows he belongs back home now. he wants to go home. ] But it's not home.
