At the risk for earning a reputation as a party planner, I have a thing for everyone to attend again. Don't worry, lots of other people are helping pull it together. It's going to be on New Year's Eve, but the real event is the countdown to Winn's birthday which is also on the first. It's going to be in a club we rented out for this in the red shift district. Starts around seven-ish. Ends when you pass out?

It's kind of a surprise maybe? At least the part where it's for his birthday. And if you don't know Winn but you still want to come that's fine too. You can trade a gift for Winn for a free drink at the bar. Otherwise, bring some money. Cake's on us though.

[Birthday/New Year's Party]
[The space is well decorated and so glittered you can probably tell Wrath was part of the team putting this together. Lots of Winn's friends came out to help whether it was getting decorations up, managing food, music, or chipping in to buy out the space and a drink for anyone bringing a gift. Not to mention drinks for the birthday boy all night.

There's a table for presents and another one with a spread of openly available food though the bar has appetizers you can buy too. There's a big cake at one end because of course there is and some punch that didn't start the night spiked at least. There's space for dancing and a karaoke machine set up on a small raised platform for those who want to try their hand at entertainment.

The night really kicks off when Winn walks in and instead of a balloon drop there's a fluffy blue stuffed bear drop. Feel free to take one of those home. There are a lot.

When midnight comes closer some people will file out to one of the observation areas to get a good view of the nebula for the big countdown. Bring your own person to kiss!

He laughs again and hugs Winn back, faintly shaking his head]

Smarty - [ patting his head lightly ] that's why I love you so damn much. Is that for me? [ finally noticing the present - he seems to not have much of an attention span right now. ]

You love me because I'm a smartass? [he grins, and offers over the present. Despite how easily he holds it with one hand and even bopped Winn with it, it's heavier than it looks] You're the only birthday boy here, so I think so.

[winn]

[ one day, he will build a shrine in her honor. ]

I didn't say anything about your ass, that's Raven's thing.

[ he takes it, and is indeed surprised by its weight. what did you do, hank! ] I haven't had this much fun being a birthday boy since I was an actual boy - does that mean I'm aging backwards? Cuz that'd only be cool for a couple years then it'll be -- creepy. And sucky. And other things that end with -y.

He didn't do anything except get you a present! Which, as it turns out, is actually a couple of things; one is a sizable, leather journal with Winn's initials stitched in the corner. The refillable kind, since he knows Winn likes to keep notes like he does.

There's also a very fancy pen to write in it, also with Winn's initials.

The last thing is actually a bunch of smaller things, which explains the weight; in a box are a couple of sewing supplies he managed to find as he was shopping around, some pieces of fabric, and a some other accessories and things one would need to make the perfect - well, whatever. Winn is the man who works the magic, here, Hank's just gifting him the pieces. Buried underneath those, however, is a smaller notebook full of some of the plans he could remember back home for things they've discussed, like sentinels and danger rooms. Y'know, in case Winn needs ideas]

What should I call you, then? Birthday guy? Birthday old man? [there it is]

[winn]

[ he marvels at all these gifts - they're beautiful and very him and if he weren't drunk he'd drag hank somewhere they could sit and make him answer any questions he may have on those designs. as it is, though, hank just gets another big hug, and then a laugh. ]

Wow already, I was sure you were gonna hang on to that one -

[Hank grins and again hugs back, and because he's a little shit he's going to ruffle Winn's hair]

You say that as though I'm not going to call you old regardless.

It's scientific fact - anything that's got Jazz on the soundtrack takes at least 3 times as long to get through.

[ he doesn't even mind jazz that much he's just giddy and argumentative because arguing with hank is fun. ]

Mmhm, much better than that noise those rascally whippersnappers listen to nowadays!

[ in an old man voice that is just way too polished. ]

What, like Michael Jackson? [HE KNOWS WHAT'S HIP WITH THE KIDS . . . in 1983] His music is decent, too.

[ oh god hank that is just too funny, your bro is laughing so hard tears stream out of his eyes, and he leans his head against his shoulder. he looks like he's having a fit.

[oh my god Winn he was being serious!! He knows what the kids are into!! How can he not when they play it at the loudest volume and he has sensitive hearing]

Are you done? [he asks after letting Winn laugh for a solid minute]

[ he shakes his head, still snickering away ]

Nope! [ he is drunk and happy and you are just freaking hilarious, hank. ] Michael Jackson - [ he just made himself start full-on laughing again. he's sure it really is what the young people are listening to in hank's time, but from his 2016 perspective it's just the funniest thing in the world. ]

[he just hangs his head back and sighs]

I really don't see how it's that funny . . . what, is he not popular anymore?

[ actually that's a whole other can of worms he'd rather not touch with a 10 foot pole right now, thank you. ]
