At the risk for earning a reputation as a party planner, I have a thing for everyone to attend again. Don't worry, lots of other people are helping pull it together. It's going to be on New Year's Eve, but the real event is the countdown to Winn's birthday which is also on the first. It's going to be in a club we rented out for this in the red shift district. Starts around seven-ish. Ends when you pass out?

It's kind of a surprise maybe? At least the part where it's for his birthday. And if you don't know Winn but you still want to come that's fine too. You can trade a gift for Winn for a free drink at the bar. Otherwise, bring some money. Cake's on us though.

[Birthday/New Year's Party]
[The space is well decorated and so glittered you can probably tell Wrath was part of the team putting this together. Lots of Winn's friends came out to help whether it was getting decorations up, managing food, music, or chipping in to buy out the space and a drink for anyone bringing a gift. Not to mention drinks for the birthday boy all night.

There's a table for presents and another one with a spread of openly available food though the bar has appetizers you can buy too. There's a big cake at one end because of course there is and some punch that didn't start the night spiked at least. There's space for dancing and a karaoke machine set up on a small raised platform for those who want to try their hand at entertainment.

The night really kicks off when Winn walks in and instead of a balloon drop there's a fluffy blue stuffed bear drop. Feel free to take one of those home. There are a lot.

When midnight comes closer some people will file out to one of the observation areas to get a good view of the nebula for the big countdown. Bring your own person to kiss!

[ The scary part is that he more than believes she's got weapons on her. Hell, he does too. They've been in their careers long enough to know it's stupid not to. Considering his drink for a moment, he knocks the rest back, setting the glass back down.

His chest burns, but it's at least pleasant. ] Problem solved, onto the next.

[They're on a roll tonight.

Natasha pushes away from the bar, heading for the dance floor. Somehow, she's as amused by his willingness to dance as by Steve's reluctance.]

[ He follows her wordlessly onto the dance floor. Nothing weird about this. Two assassins sharing a dance on new year's eve.

Contrary to what most people probably assume, he likes dancing. It's muscle memory and repetition. Something he can focus on and not have to think. ]

The music isn't bad.

[Natasha takes his left hand carefully once they're out there, reeling him in and tucking it into a camouflaged pocket at her hip. If he could move his hand to feel around, he'd find a few tiny taser devices, not unlike the one she used to short out his arm before.

She tilts her head.]

It's not. I think I can work with this.

[A smile.]

Both Steve and Peggy would complain about it.

[ Bucky has no doubt that there are weapons, though he's not going to pry. It's not about that. Once they're close, he'll take her hand in his. ]

This isn't awkward in the least. [ It's not bad, though. Nice, even. ]

There was a planet before Steve came back. There was a masquerade. We went together for the hell of it.

Why would it be awkward? [Natasha rests one hand on his shoulder, easing easily into a simple dance.]

A masquerade, huh? I bet the two of you cut a handsome couple. [She lets the topic move on though. It's just obviously true the two of them would look good.] Sounds nice. You dress up?

I'll make it up to you proper once my arm is fixed. [ You know, gotta be awkward with a hand that's not yours in your pocket. ]

Where do you think the suit came from?

[If Natasha finds it awkward, she does an admirable job of hiding it. Not that it's not a little strange, but compared to aliens? This is nothing. Minor accommodations. At the same time...]

I'll hold you to that.

[Why let the opportunity slide.]

We'll see if I make you get a new set of clothes to do it.

[ Of course she doesn't make a big deal about it, she's much more subtle than that.

His eyebrow arches upward at the suggestion. ]

That right? Can't say I'm not interested to see what that would entail.

[She makes it seem natural. She's good at this.]

Don't get my hopes up, Barnes. Not unless you plan on following through.

Well now I'm curious enough to.

[ Don't tempt him with well-meaning mystery, Natasha. ]

[She'll be as tempting and mysterious as she pleases, thank you.]

Only one way to find out.

Well, there's no way it'll be like your surprise for Steve and Peggy.

[ So he says. ]

That wasn't what I had in mind, but plans can change.

[Especially if he makes this a challenge.]

But I was thinking we'd start small.

[reconstitution]

I'm alright with starting small.

[ For now, he doesn't intend on making it a challenge, mostly because he's interested to see what she's planning. But as she said, plans can change. ]

Good. Because I have something in mind.

[He'd look real good in all black.

She has to wonder if he'd let her do something about his hair.]

This something you've been thinking about, or are you making this up as you go?

[ The hair may be negotiable. ]

[Natasha moves lightly, leading without ever actually leading.]

Didn't think it was a possibility before. But now that it's on the table... I move fast.

I'm in a generous mood. [ They both know how often that happens. ]

And that is an opportunity I know better than to miss. [Not often, it's true. More often than he'd probably admit to, though.]

[She smiles at him, maybe teasing. It's hard to say sometimes.]

You're not embarrassing yourself too badly as it stands.

Can't afford to be a klutz, can I?

[ Being an assassin and all. ]

I guess not.

[Her tone is still unconvinced; if anyone has had an assassin step on her toes, it's probably Natasha.]

Still not sure I would have called you light on your feet before.

No, probably not.

[ That's the power of being under his own influence, now, instead of a tank who would do what was necessary to complete a mission. ]
