"That's a good way of looking at it." Sometimes it's all that gets her through the guilt of surviving. Some days it still doesn't feel like enough and others it barely comes to mind at all. "I let waffles take a dark turn."

"... Yes... Waffles did become rather morbid."

He looks at the waffles on the table, as if judging them.

"... Would you like some of the morbid waffles? Perhaps over talk of your favorite reading materials?"

"I should probably leave some of the morbid waffles for the others. I already had a lot. But are you sure you're ready for my favorite reading materials? I'm a huge nerd."

"Oh, I am more than prepared! Though I regret to inform you our decades may be quite off."

He smiles impishly.

"What is a nerd?"

She gives a soft laugh. "Nerd can mean a lot of different things to different people but it's usually someone who has interests that are a little off of mainstream or they might have some trouble with social skills. I've been reading books on various scientific theories. Physics mostly."

He chuckles, surprised.

"That means Mr. Stark is a 'nerd', then?"

Because now he has something to call Howard in private.

"I don't know him, but I'd say there's a good chance."

"Probably for the best you don't meet him." He winces. "He is certainly a love or hate sort of personality, when it comes to speaking with the ladies." He has no doubt Howard would hit on Miss Pryde, because... well. Howard.

"Well, if he's a friend of yours I'll put off breaking him even if he falls into the hate column."

He sputters on his tea he has moved to drink.

"That is — entirely appreciated. He really is a decent heart under all the flippant bravado and ill-timed humor... and terrible choice in hair products."

"That's good. I wouldn't want you having to spend that much time with anyone who was a jerk through and through." His waffles already proved his goodness. That's science.
