People wouldn't be afraid of her if she was just telekinetic. The Fleet doesn't care about other powers that much.

Mm. Not here- back home. It wasn't great for her. I think here is better.

That makes sense.

You both deserve something nice.

What we deserve is often something we have to fight for. And it's not easy to feel or prove.

[ He nods. Charles knows how aware of that situation he is. How well they both know it. Too many people in the Fleet do. ]

It takes work.

[ Being happy. Finding any sort of peace. ]

A lot of work, unfortunately.

But it's not impossible. So how about we try together?

[ He feels some of his good mood returning. Moping or constantly dwelling has never been Charles' forte. ]

It doesn't have to be a date, you realize.

What else would you suggest?

It can just be an outing. Spending time together, getting to know someone new.

Which is always risky, I know. But sometimes you have to start somewhere or you just . .. never start.

[ A beat. ]

Besides, I'm a little leery about spouting romantic advice. I don't have much to show for it.

Still more romance than I've had for over seventy years.

[ It's probably too-far off in the future to be worrying about, anyway. ]

But an outing could be nice. I haven't really ventured out to talk to new people in a while.

[ Wryly. ] We can trade it.

Perhaps the next planet will consider having a picnic ground. Though the Iskaulit gardens aren't too shabby.

I hope the next planet has a decent garden or beach. Like the hand-holding planet.

[ He really misses that beach. ]

Maybe we could gather the crew and do something there, too.

[ Charles is the same in that regard. Nothing came close to the experience he had on that planet. ]

A crew outing would be lovely. I don't know how keen they would be, but I'm sure we can work it out.

I'm sure most wouldn't be. It's fine- we're already trapped with one another most of the month.

[ He can understand not wanting to be with everyone even more once they are free to roam. ]

We don't actually see each other all that much. We generally keep to ourselves.
