[Since hearing of it from Beverly, Jeyne visited the gardens at least twice in a week. With her lessons in medicine increasing, it seemed a wise idea to test the various plants and determine what sort of use they might have. With small samples, she is able to experiment and test, all mainly with herself (as she wouldn't want to subject anyone else to this.) Some plants are recognizable or close to what she knew in her world. For the rest? It's a guessing game.

Her latest project is a sweet smelling salve. When not attempting to mix it with other plants, she rubs it gently on her wrists, smelling the aroma with a small smile.]

Blue Fish

[From one type of experimenting to another. With very few patients to treat, Jeyne has begun to occupy herself with different skills, determined to learn them and no longer be a wastrel. She practices her cooking when able, sometimes not burning the meal and slowly making something that looks nearly appetizing. She continues her lessons with Beverly in medicine, dutifully taking notes. When not with Beverly, she reads over all the information she compiled, committing it to memory and practicing in her head. There are times when she wanders to the cargo deck, toying with her bow (sans arrows), muttering to herself as she works at her aiming.

It's a bit difficult without a target or arrows, but she doesn't intend to injure anyone...even if it would help improve her medical training.]

No, thankfully others have been so kind and have explained matters to the best of their abilities. [Given where she was from, it was a surreal experience to see others be genuinely nice.]

Kitty? [She heard the name before and finally putting the face to the name weakens her smile.] Robb's friend?

Yes? [Not questioning her friendship so much as that particular association and shift in expression.]

[Which maybe said with a bit more pride and imperiousness than she would have otherwise. She would be kind to Kitty and not blame her for what transpired (as it was not her fault and nothing happened). Yet she still felt a bit jealous, something she couldn't help.

It wasn't aided by the fact that Kitty was clearly beautiful.

Right. It's good to meet you. We don't really do the my lady thing where I'm from. [Oh, Robb, what did you tell her?] He speaks highly of you.

Not many follow that custom, but I fear it is a habit I cannot yet break.

[Oh, she shouldn't have said that. He spoke of her mostly while comparing the gloriousness of their "teats".]

[Though it didn't prevent him from lusting after another woman. She doesn't want to feel anger or irritation, but her pride has been slightly bruised.

If Kitty weren't so pretty, it wouldn't trouble her as much...or so she thinks.]

My lord? [Drawing a temporary blank.] Oh! [Smiling, trying not to laugh at the thought of calling Winn "my lord".] Winn's birthday, yes. I talked to Robb about it when I saw him. I must have missed you. It was pretty crowded.

Was it truly impossible for him to stay? [She was protective of Robb and disliked him feeling that he was not welcome at any event.] I was at his side. He would not have caused any trouble.

I didn't exactly throw him out. [She might have. She thought about it. It just wasn't needed.] He seemed just as eager to leave once he knew it was for Winn.

I'd like to see them in a good place, but they aren't really there yet. Robb mentioned wanting to punch him in the face once. [Which isn't the most horrible threat all things considered, but she's not letting Winn get punched in the face.] Winn had already been drinking that night. It wasn't the best situation for it.

[Why were they fighting over this small misunderstanding? From what Robb had said, he only spoke foolishly because he was in his cups. He did not actually steal Kitt's honor.

...The thought only manages to stab him further with pain.]

Robb behaves honorably, even when in the presence of those who do not respect him. [Her first instinct is to protect Robb. She had seen him siege her family home and hold her father hostage, yet she couldn't imagine Robb do anything improper, not when he was a guest.]

Why are they so at odds? He apologized to you, did he not? He sought to make amends?

There were many apologies. Everything is amended. I don't really know why it got to Winn the way it did.

Soooooo, Robb told you about what happened? [She kind of already got that from the way her demeanor changed toward her when she caught her name, but maybe she just disliked everyone who knew Robb? Guess not.]

He has no reason to fear Robb's behavior or response. It is not something that will be repeated.

[She trusted him in that, even if he hadn't told her about any of this until now.]

He told me. [She's not exactly pleased, but there is no one she can be reasonably mad at. No one is at fault.]

I sort of feel like I should apologize except that I didn't do anything. Still, not great news to come back to I'm guessing.

I'll talk to Winn about it. I know Robb wouldn't do it again. [She's not really sure of that. After all, she never thought he'd do it the first time. But it isn't as if he tried to take anything without permission. It could have been a very uncomfortable situation for someone less self possessed than Kitty, but to her he was just a sad, lonely...horny, but ultimately harmless guy. Not exactly a villain.] I wasn't there when they argued, but they can both be stubborn and temperamental. [And so can she, but this isn't about her!]

[She didn't do anything wrong, but the blunt statement of brings a flash of irritation to Jeyne. ]

Of course he won't. [That jealousy returns again. She had been taught that sometimes husbands had other women, but given her relationship with Robb and how their marriage began, she didn't expect to have to worry about such things.] He has no reason to, and from what he has told me, he has not been overlong in your company to raise Ser Winn's concern.

Robb can be stubborn, but he is honorable. He would acknowledge his fault and apologize, which I believe he did.

[She does have a way with bluntness at times.]

Definitely no overlonging. [What?] He's a friend who was having a bad night. That's all. I could have been anyone he ran into. I just happened to be me. [Does that make it worse or better for Jeyne?]

I don't have any issues with Robb.

[Much worse. It means she easily replaceable.]

There is a feud between Ser Winn and Robb. This incident has become an actual dispute. It shouldn't be.

[The longer they fought, the more she'd have to suffer this continual humiliation. How long had this been happening and how many knew that her husband made overtures towards another woman?]

I know you don't. I simply want to see all of this pass.

I wouldn't call it a feud. Winn's not from a world like yours. He doesn't have a house or lands or bannermen. He is a very sweet guy who works on computers. He wouldn't hurt a fly.

[Wanting to defend her guy but also wanting to diffuse things and not thinking about how Jeyne is feeling. Or at least not guessing right about how she's feeling.]

[He wouldn't hurt a fly, but Robb has to avoid being in the same place as him. The thoughts come quickly and are just as quickly snuffed out. She doesn't want to consider them or make things worse.

She wants it over.]

I don't expect them to be friends, but perhaps there is something that we can do to diffuse the tension, so at least they can exist in the same room without their being trouble?

I think they could now. It's just that was in celebration of Winn. [And the New Year which does make her feel badly about it.]

But yes, of course, I'd like to see them get along better. They've only met once as it is. I don't really know what happened or why it went as badly as it did. [Is it obvious she and Winn didn't have a long talk about it? ...Yet.]

Then we should find a means to restore the peace. [Meaning she'd have to speak to Robb about this again, something she wanted very much to avoid.]

I don't know what could have happened? I thought Robb only made a few inappropriate comments? It was a misunderstanding.

I don't know what to tell you, Jeyne. But if you're worried it was more than that, it wasn't. And Robb didn't have any reason to think he'd ever see you again. I think he just wanted something to distract him from the pain. [She's been there. Oh, has she been there.]

[She bristles at that. Rather than helping, it only made her humiliation and pain worse.]

Whatever Robb's reasoning, that is his alone. [She's trying so hard to remain calm and stoic, rather than responding like the young girl she is. She wants to cry, she wants to be angry, but it's not her place and would only make things more difficult.]

My only concern is seeing this does not further escalate.

[For someone who has some training in criminal profiling and reading even microexpressions she's botching this pretty badly. Partially because she doesn't understand why it was a problem either. Winn knows she can take care of herself. He's been jealous in the past but he's gotten better. Was it timing? She wishes she'd talked to him more in depth about it instead of having these conversations with first Robb and now Jeyne and not knowing what to say and not wanting any of it to be a big deal. But she stops and takes a beat looking at the other girl who is a few years younger and married much as she was then. A girl from a world very different than the one she's from. Still harsh but grounded in rules and expectations Kitty never had to conform to.]

I'm probably the very last person you want to talk to about this, but...are you okay?

[There were so many thoughts racing to her head. It was no small thing to compare herself to the older woman beside her, insecure because of many factors. Her marriage to Robb had been swift and not contracted out of love in the beginning. She was young, not as...womanly as Kitty, and the lingering stigma of (possibly) being barren was still in her mind. She wasn't bold, she didn't dress as...brazenly, and she didn't bear the same confidence.

Robb had been here alone and he had lusted for another. It wasn't intentional, but it managed to unnerve her and made her wonder how precarious her situation was. Robb had died and she had resisted any thought of another man, no matter what her mother had intended. So did that mean she was easily replaceable? That any woman would do to satisfy his desires?

She shook her head, afraid to speak all of this aloud. There was no one that she could really discuss this with or trusted, which made Kitty no worse than anyone else.]
