[Since hearing of it from Beverly, Jeyne visited the gardens at least twice in a week. With her lessons in medicine increasing, it seemed a wise idea to test the various plants and determine what sort of use they might have. With small samples, she is able to experiment and test, all mainly with herself (as she wouldn't want to subject anyone else to this.) Some plants are recognizable or close to what she knew in her world. For the rest? It's a guessing game.

Her latest project is a sweet smelling salve. When not attempting to mix it with other plants, she rubs it gently on her wrists, smelling the aroma with a small smile.]

Blue Fish

[From one type of experimenting to another. With very few patients to treat, Jeyne has begun to occupy herself with different skills, determined to learn them and no longer be a wastrel. She practices her cooking when able, sometimes not burning the meal and slowly making something that looks nearly appetizing. She continues her lessons with Beverly in medicine, dutifully taking notes. When not with Beverly, she reads over all the information she compiled, committing it to memory and practicing in her head. There are times when she wanders to the cargo deck, toying with her bow (sans arrows), muttering to herself as she works at her aiming.

It's a bit difficult without a target or arrows, but she doesn't intend to injure anyone...even if it would help improve her medical training.]

Exactly! I've been working on testing them and growing whatever I can find in my garden, but it's not as easy as it sounds when there's a dozen other things that need to be done in the day.

[ Hermione's glad someone understands and isn't just staring at her blankly.

There's a moment where she hesitates, wondering if she should talk about the touch of awkwardness between herself and Robb, but she doesn't see the point. If he wanted to talk about it he could bring it up himself. ]

Well, I'm certainly glad to see you here. But, me? I've been here almost a year, actually.

You have your own garden? There aren't that many that I know here who can use herbs or make tonics. My mother taught me, but I still need practice.

[It's a something they share then. Jeyne feels more than excited to have someone to talk to about this.]

So long as that? There are many that I know who have been here for the same length of time. Are you and Robb friends?

There are two on the Iskaulit that I know of - mine and another one. Mine has a potion room at the back for my brewing, so I don't have to try and cart them between the ships. I could show you one day if you like.

[ She doesn't mind that - sharing her knowledge and her garden with anyone who has a keen ear. ]

We are. He's been a very good friend to me, and I'm lucky to know him.

I would like that. What sort of potions do you make? [She looked around with a fond smile.] I didn't know that I could claim a room on the Iskaulit to create a garden. I wonder if I should do that.

[If given the chance, she would spend time in Hermione's garden and potion room.]

I'm glad he has had so many friends in this place. He has a tendency to lose himself in his thoughts.

All kinds of things! I can brew something for healing, for sleeping, little things for coughs and headaches... Just things that can help people. There's plenty of space on the ship and I'm sure no one would mind if another garden sprung up.

[ It would be nice. Hermione wouldn't mind, of course, and she's sure Anders wouldn't complain about having another helping hand around their little greenery. ]

I've noticed, but... He seemed happy. Missing you, but happy.

I can make tonics for those as well, the only difficulty is improving the taste. I haven't yet learned how to make them less bitter.

[She doesn't know the difference between "potions" and "tonics", but is absolutely pleased to meet someone else who knows the properties of herbs as well.]

How did you meet him?

Maybe we could work on that together? Potions don't taste very good either and I'm sure that's something people are going to mention.

[ Medicine wasn't meant to taste good though, was it? ]

Oh! There was an issue with our money a long time ago and I tried to make him feel a bit better.

I would love that! There has to be something we can add that will improve the taste, but won't alter the potency.

[Not often, but it would be a miracle if they could manage it.]

That's a rather difficult task. Robb is very dour.

That's what experimentation is for. Medicine is good and important, of course, but people won't use it if they really hate the taste.

[ But... At least she can laugh. ]

Dour's a good word, but - he's very kind, too, and sweet.

Maybe something not so strong as mint or sage? We wouldn't want the taste to be one extreme or the other. It might make their stomachs sick.

[Her mind was racing, already pursuing ideas.]

He is. He carries so much on his shoulders that he forgets to be kind to himself as well.
