[The video function turns on to the hesitantly smiling face of a young woman. Blue hair and pointed ears mark her as somewhat different— or they would if this wasn’t a space fleet carrying residents from all over the multi-verse. She waves at the camera, a slight tilt of her head the only immediate indication of any puzzlement, but concern is detectable.]

Ah… hi there. I’ve gone through the information on the computers— or at least what looks like the basics, so I’m trying this now. [She stops, backtracking somewhat.] Obviously I’m new, I think. I just woke up an hour or so ago. I’m still trying to process this, if it’s not a really weird in-game event.

[Her expression sobers for a brief moment before she continues.] Because this isn’t what I normally look like, not really. So…

[And here she catches herself.] Oh, sorry! My name’s Asuna. If anyone has clarification, I’d love to hear it. Thank you.

[Then suddenly, it hits her. Asuna's eyes widen.]

Er... I guess, technically? I haven't really grown or anything, though.

[Not that he's had much potential to grow anyway. Thanks, two-year-coma during the formative years.]

But you've had a birthday here, right?

[Wait for it...]

And I missed it! [She sounds absolutely horrified at the idea.]

Oh, yeah. It's February here now, going by our calendar.

I didn't really do anything to celebrate, though, so don't worry about it! I mean, I would have missed yours, too.

[If time didn't work weirdly here.]

But you should celebrate! It's worth celebrating. [Asuna is very adamant on this point. Don't try to argue.]

I think your friends here would agree.

There was a little bit of celebrating! It's not like everyone ignored me. I got some food, and Clay gave me swords.

[His friends know what he likes.]

Good. [She seems a little more placated when he mentions there was actually some celebration. The very thought of his birthday passing without someone making a big deal out of it is abhorrent to her.]

I'm glad. [By her tone, it's obvious she means it. If she can't be there, it's a great relief that someone else was.]

Heh. Thanks, Asuna.

[she's always cared about that sort of thing more than him; it's kind of nice, actually. Before SAO he cared about so little that his first birthday with her was probably the best he'd ever had.]

...Oh! I wonder if Clay has a rapier.

Is that really possible? [She sounds sort of hopeful at the possibility.]

I don't have anything to give anyone in return just yet.

Dunno, but it's worth asking. And don't worry about the cost, either. If Clay wants money for it, I can foot the bill. My col is your col.

[Even if they're not technically married anymore, that's kind of been the rule for the most part.]

[His statement--sounding so much like the given it is-- causes her to show the warm, touched smile that's reserved only for him. Asuna huffs a little, shaking her head.]

Hey. When I'm off this ship, I'll find you and won't let you go, okay?

[Oh, ow, it hurts. He really has missed her smile.]
