[ there's something off about winn when the feed turns on. something different from all his other broadcasts. it may take a second to spot it but once you realize what it is it becomes glaringly obvious: there's not a hint of happiness anywhere on his face. his eyes, his lips, his nose, it looks like every last bit of joy has been drained from his features, so even when his lips do stretch lightly upwards, despite his dry eyes it feels more like watching him sob than seeing him smile. ]

Margaery's gone home. [ he has no way of knowing that. she could have been kidnapped to another world, one where she would have no protective big brother to introduce her to superheroes and feminism, to embroider with her and teach her science. but he chooses to hang onto that thought, to believe that she's gone back to the family he knows she so desperately missed despite never letting her pain show. he clears his throat. ] If any of her friends wanna come by for a toast and some stories, I'll be on the Tourist all day.

[ he has been on the tourist since he realized she disappeared, curled up in his bed, shut down. this is the most he's said since, and it feels almost like an outer body experience. he clears his throat again, and nods at the camera before killing the feed. ]

he nods and even tries for a little smile; it's devoid of happiness, but he tries to still be welcoming. ]

Winn. Nice to meet you. [ circumstances and all, he does mean it. ]

[She could swear that she knows that name.]

We haven't met before? Have we?

I don't think so. [ he shakes his head, but thinks it over. jeyne. the name is familiar.

it takes him a second but once he concentrates - he gets there. robb's wife's name is jeyne, isn't it? well, he's definitely glad they worked through their issues or this would've been super awkward and that's the last thing he needs right now. ]

But I got an idea where you know me from. [ he does hope robb filled his wife in on their conciliation. he remembers robb telling him that he caused him problems and guilt pinches at his heart again. it's not what he meant to do. ] I'm Kitty's boyfriend.

[Her face lights up with recognition. The situation with Robb and Kitty had been difficult, but Winn hadn't truly factored into that. Only that he and Robb had a disagreement at one time.

She had spoken to Kitty, hoping that they could find a way to reconcile the two men, allowing them to find common ground. Robb hadn't complained or said anything, all she could do was hope that they had come to an understanding.]

Of course. She speaks highly of you. I'm glad to have the chance to meet you.

She's just the tiniest bit biased.

[ but he says it with a small smile, the biggest he can offer today. he loves that she's proud of him, that she talks about him to so many people. ]

Likewise. [ he inclines his head lightly. ]

Something I know very well.

[She was just a bit biased towards someone in particular as well.]

Would you...mind my asking about how matters are with Robb? I had hoped you both would speak again.

[Jeyne the peacemaker.]

[ winn had never intended for things to get as blown up as they did. he was upset with robb, sure, he's still not a fan of some of robb's views, never will be. but when kitty told him that robb did in fact apologize to her, then his apology to winn took a whole new light - suddenly it was a sign of respect instead of chauvinistic bull. and there were the extenuating circumstances that he's been made aware of.

and...the fact that he had been out of line. he blew up on robb for all the sexism and oppression that westeros piled on margaery, which wasn't fair. so he apologized. of course it'd be that part that would be kept on the down low, right? ]

We did, we're fine. I'm sorry things got out of hand, I really didn't mean for this to happen. [ he was upset, yeah, he wasn't going to kick them out of his party or complicate their friendship with kitty. as far as he was concerned the issue was between him and robb, it didn't mean robb - and certainly not jeyne who has done nothing wrong - should be excluded from anything. not on his behalf. ]

I'm glad. I had hoped that you would both mend matters between you. Though you have nothing to apologize for to me. My response wasn't any better. I think I wept next to Kitty and inflicted my anger at Robb.

[It wasn't what a proper lady should do, is what she is saying. She holds no judgement for Winn. It wasn't an easy thing to hear and could incite jealousy, even if it was an innocent mistake.]

He isn't like that normally. From what I know, Robb was mourning his future in our world and our separation. He isn't rude or uncouth by nature. He truly does respect a woman's virtue and honor, though it must not have seemed like it.

[ kitty thought he'd be jealous too. it's mystifying to him - why should he be jealous of some kid drinking too much and being an ass to her? if he charmed her, absolutely. if he were her ex boyfriend - he would still be feeling the insecurity. but this? what does he have to be jealous of here?

he's quiet for a moment, trying to clear his head, to come up with a good answer. the timing for this is poor, he's too full of grief over margaery, and the last thing he wants to do is accidentally make things awkward again with unfortunate phrasing. he does feel bad for her, she had actual cause to feel jealous and upset, but he doesn't have it in him to have that conversation, and the odds of him messing something up there are just too great, even under the best of circumstances. ]

It was my first time meeting him, it was a lot of bad circumstances and misunderstandings coming together at once. I didn't think he was a bad guy, I trust Kitty's judgment. [ though she has made a lot of questionable choices, but he gets where they came from. ] We've both apologized and put it behind us. Clean slate.

[It seems silly now to remember how jealous she felt. Perhaps it had been her insecurity, her fears of how Robb would respond to her family's actions against him. She felt insecure and worried about her position in his life.

Now...all of those fears had passed. There was nothing but the memory of how childish she had been, doubting that Robb would want her. What happened with Kitty was an accident. She had no reason to be worried.]

I'm glad. I had hoped you both would reconcile and become friends. In this place, it isn't wise for us to all be at odds.

[ he can absolutely understand why she would be jealous - it's her husband who made a pass at another woman - a beautiful, brilliant, wonderful woman. but him? if he got jealous of everyone who was attracted to kitty he's pretty sure he'd have to be jealous of absolutely everyone in the multiverse and that just sounds exhausting.

he isn't sure he'd go as far as call them 'friends', but they're on the right path, at least, and considering where they started he takes that as a big win. ]

We're in this together, we should stick by each other. [ he nods. ]

That's how I feel too.

Will you let me know if there is anything I may do for you, now or in the future? I know Margaery's disappearance is difficult for you. However I might help, I would like to.

[ he inclines his head lightly, in the manner he's become accustomed to with margaery. ] I will [ he won't. nothing personal he still hasn't learned to ask his girlfriend or his best friends when he needs help. he just doesn't like to be a bother. ] so please, feel free to do the same. I know I'm not the only one who feels her loss.

You too, Jeyne. [ he even offers her a little smile this time. margaery would have given her a big one, a charming one, one that could pass for real if you didn't know her extremely well. he's not margaery, and never will be. ] It's nice meeting you, despite the circumstances.
