[Kitty's morning on the Tourist did not go as planned. It's another hour or so before she makes this announcement. She doesn't even know what happened to the minutes in between. But she's all business when she looks into the communicator. No hiding behind text.]

Winn Schott is in a coma. [Blunt. Direct. Maybe she should have called a few people individually first like Kara, but she wasn't going to make it through this if she did that.] He always has projects going, so they're going to be late. If something is important let me know and I'll see if it's something I can work on in his place.

I already fed his slug today, but someone on the Tourist should take care of that until lazy wakes up. [The mild insult to cover feelings is so classic Kitty, circa home it may not even fit with what people of the fleet know of her. That Kitty had walls around her walls, but those are gone now.]

He's always checking on ship systems on the Twin Roses since we managed to merge and still not get an engineer out of the deal, so if anyone else can help us out with that in the meantime let me know. I'll also be working on the new dance studio later today if anyone wants to help. [Because this mission is almost complete and she needs another one so she can hold it together. Can't fall apart if she's sanding down floors.]

Then I've got that going for me anyway. Don't suppose you have an end date for him sleeping.

I could give a guess? A couple of weeks to a month. That seems to be the average based on the people I know who had been asleep, including myself. No telling exactly though.

Yeah, I know. It's all a guessing game with some parameters they can throw out the window whenever they feel like spicing it up.

Unfortunately. But I'm sure it won't be for very long. A month does seem the maximum so far.

Hey, look at it this way - he's finally catching up on all those hours of sleep I keep telling him he needs to get.

I've seen it go longer, but then he also never woke up. [It was a very formative loss.]

Mmm...that's something I guess. And for a while once he's back I won't mind him staying awake.

Well, I guess that's reason to hurry up and invest in some sound proofing.

We've been giving you reasons to invest in sound proofing for months. [Not as playful in tone or expression as it normally would be.]

Well now I'll move it up on the priority list.

[She nods.]

Are you okay? I know he's important to you. [Well, what she knows is that Jim is important to Winn. She hopes it works both ways.]

_{[ He gives a tight nod. ]}

I'll be okay.

_{[ He had to be. He always was. It was how captains were. ]}

Just take care of yourself, okay? Winn wouldn't want you getting ill over him.

[She nods.] I'll be fine. [She won't sleep much, but maybe she'll just be more like Winn that way.] Thanks for everything. [The talk, the slug, the engineering work.]
