[He'd only had a short time aboard the Marsiva before he found himself transported yet again, this time onto the bridge of a much smaller, less immaculate ship. Not long enough to figure out what was going on, not even long enough to browse the network.

Sayid's new shipmates will therefore find their newest member seated at the comm station, pretty much ignoring his celebratory pudding. (Someone else can eat it, if they want.) Perhaps somewhat notably, he's dressed in clothing that could reasonably be described as archaic - leather armor over simple clothing - and yet he doesn't seem awed or confused by the technology. Even with the augment, he seems pretty damn sure about what he's doing.]

[So yeah, there's this guy in fancy leather armor on screen. His arms are crossed over his chest, the look on his face is faintly annoyed, but he's calm and collected.]

I'm starting to worry that these kidnapping situations are going to become routine for me.

[Okay, but no that frustration isn't helpful, and he needs answers more than he needs to gripe.]

I'd like to know if there's anything expected of us here - other than to be amusing - or if we're otherwise allowed to live our lives unbothered. Our lives such as they are, anyway.

[Because, you know, the last time he was unexpectedly yanked from one place to another, there were games and dying and a lot of trauma. It'd be nice if that weren't repeated.]

[that's it, that's all she can think of to blurt out]

[He'd hear- and eventually feel- a faint thumping of footsteps as the ship's resident "civilian" joined him on the bridge. His armor didn't go unnoticed, and while she had serious doubts about its effectiveness- especially compared to her own- it does get him honorary peer status right out the gate. She can respect another warrior, even a tiny human one.]

You're taking this well, human. Especially with how often the Atroma target your kind for this game.

[Yeah, she'd noticed. Though humans seemed to be the largest group targeted in the last cross-universe kidnapping ploy she'd been dragged into, too. Despite her size, she was doing what she could to avoid being overly menacing, choosing to keep a distance between them- as best she could anyway, given the cramped confines of the ship.]

There will be some moments when it seems your life is disrupted. Sometimes our augments react strangely or we are attacked, but there is always a time of quiet where you forget what is happening and why we are here.

You will fall into a routine eventually.

I suppose that depends on what you find especially bothersome.

[There's something both casually flippant and detached about the statement, the way he says it, possibly because his eyes and half on something out of frame. Though Sayid can't see it, a book in his lap]

No, I'm pretty sure we're supposed to just be amusing. Or possibly nearly die. That happens a lot too. There doesn't seem to be an in between.

I think we can pretty much live our lives. Until shit hits the fan- like when raiders attack us, or something.

Mostly it's just planet-ship-space on repeat.
