Who: Sayid Jarrah
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: SS Bishop
When: Post-Shuffle
action
[He'd only had a short time aboard the Marsiva before he found himself transported yet again, this time onto the bridge of a much smaller, less immaculate ship. Not long enough to figure out what was going on, not even long enough to browse the network.
Sayid's new shipmates will therefore find their newest member seated at the comm station, pretty much ignoring his celebratory pudding. (Someone else can eat it, if they want.) Perhaps somewhat notably, he's dressed in clothing that could reasonably be described as archaic - leather armor over simple clothing - and yet he doesn't seem awed or confused by the technology. Even with the augment, he seems pretty damn sure about what he's doing.]
network - video
[So yeah, there's this guy in fancy leather armor on screen. His arms are crossed over his chest, the look on his face is faintly annoyed, but he's calm and collected.]
I'm starting to worry that these kidnapping situations are going to become routine for me.
[Okay, but no that frustration isn't helpful, and he needs answers more than he needs to gripe.]
I'd like to know if there's anything expected of us here - other than to be amusing - or if we're otherwise allowed to live our lives unbothered. Our lives such as they are, anyway.
[Because, you know, the last time he was unexpectedly yanked from one place to another, there were games and dying and a lot of trauma. It'd be nice if that weren't repeated.]

It just doesn't sit right with me. I don't have much evidence beyond hunches, but those have served me well.

[Or, you know, appear to be.]

Regardless of it's actually a show or a very expensive and intricate experiment - yes, it's quite possible.
no subject
[It's definitely one other possibility. Sayid could probably come to his own conclusions about the nature of an experiment like this. But it's good to hear other opinions.]

To see how we handle stress or our other emotions, how we function as a group in a strange and unfamiliar situation. To just see how we interact with each other. How long it takes us to get out, if we can at all.
It could be any number of things. Just not enough data for anything but theories. And never more than that.
no subject
Perhaps if the data isn't there, then it really is as it appears to be.
[...Or the experimenters are just that good at throwing people off their trail. That too.]

That's always possible too. I personally don't think so - some gut feeling, but I know that's not a very scientific way to go about things. It's all I really have for sure though.
[ There's an implied shrug in his voice. He knows it's essentially next to nothing on information, and for that he's sorry, but there's not much he can do about it right now. ]
I think if we are to find out anything it will be if we come across other ships like the Marsiva crashed on these other planets, or we get into the Marsiva herself - further than she allows us the times we have been let in.
[ Again, his tone suggests this will be, at the very least, difficult. ]

I barely got a look at the part I was allowed in, unfortunately.
[He's earmarking Kirk as someone he might like to have a chat with later, in person. Of course, even a face-to-face meeting is going to be monitored, but having an in-depth conversation about this over the network still feels more risky.]

[ It's the most he has, and thus the most he can offer that is 'concrete' in a sense. He knows what he feels for sure, at least. ]
Even when you have a week, where you can go and what you can do is limited. I doubt we'll ever get much from the people who arrive there.
[ He's given up on learning more than that, honestly, when it comes to the new arrivals. They're often to confused and angry to be of much help anyways, and he doubted that Atroma would be stupid enough to put anyone near a section with real information anyways. ]

[His expression is a little wry.]

Sloppy is one word for it.
[ He sighs audibly. ]
At any rate, that's where things stand - which isn't very uplifting, I know, but it at least means there's less for you to try and have to catch up on.

No, it's really just a matter of fact. I have been way, way worse situations. This is almost a vacation comparatively.
no subject
That's not your perspective?
no subject
It is, undeniably, a fact for me.
no subject
Then at least you are getting a vacation. As non-optional as it might be.
no subject
[ He didn't, but he knew it was a fact for many other people as well. It all depended on circumstance. ]
"Non-optional". Cute. Between you and me I'd rather be working. I'm one of those who doesn't do so well with nothing to do.

[He's played at being a millionare with nothing much to do, but it was kind of a cover. And he's generally more interested in having work to do.]

Thankfully we usually come across planets with things to do, but even if they didn't have flourishing native civilizations most of the time there would be things to do.
But the drifting weeks can be rough, for sure.
