EVENT LOG | There's always a bigger fish.

[The source of the toxins has been discovered to be coming from the Depths that were previously sealed off. The Dasioe, desperate for aid, has agreed to let the Fleet have access to search for the source and put a stop to it. So now it's up to you to prepare yourselves for the unknown, and brave these dark waters for the sake of this world.
But be careful: you aren't alone down there.
This is a catch all-mingle/event log for the Depths event and anything related to it. None of the creatures will be NPCed by mods, so feel free to control them as you'd like.

TEAM BLUE FISH
SHUTTLE 1

So. The creep factor just dialled up to a fifty.

[Dark spawn were off the table but it would probably be something icky? Tentacle monsters and mutant fish came to mind. You never know.]

Dark, ominous entrance... check. No idea what waits for us below... check. Well, we're already well on our way to an adventurous mishap. [At best.]

WRECKAGE
Hope you guys brought plenty of duct tape!]
TEAM PAISLEY
Hang on tight, kids. This is gonna be a long ride.]

[Alex looks back over the pilot's seat, completely convinced that the Sound Wire is an actual thing, and will make the beeping stop.]

[Because, you know, what if. That probably wouldn't be good you know.]

TEAM TWIN ROSES - starting midaction for funsies
Of course he wasn't counting on flipping sea dragons. Which is why he's standing behind Vash's pilot's seat, bracing his arm against the cabin ceiling and repeating faster faster faster faster faster!! over and over under his breath as the console beeps frantically that they're about to get eaten.]

The easy going, joke cracking man that has been with this motley crew at the start is now gone. Now he's nearly a completely different person. Calculatingly, serious, and laser focused. Wolfe may be use to this by now, but the others might not be.]
I'M AM GOING FASTER!
[Well, not anymore. The poor shuttle was already at its max speed. It was Vash's precision driving that was keeping them from being food now. Weaving in and out of rocks and the limited plant life down here.]
HANG ON! [That's all the warning people get when suddenly the shuffle is tilting completely vertically between two rock pillars. It doesn't take long for Vash to right it again, but it also doesn't take long before the creature behind them is crashing right through without slowing.]
Well, that didn't work. [He should really sound more panicked then mildly disappointed right now, huh?]

Let me try something. Have we a way to broadcast?

FREE AGENT LOOMA
In her defense, it was the best that could be managed against the Dafik. She'd certainly pushed it to its limits with her adopted strategy, too- deliberately cruising at the slowest possible speed, then pouring on the thrusters to dart out of the way when the time came to dodge. Less helpful was her insistence on staying to fight the creature, which is what led to most of the damage, as well as the massive power drain to the shuttle.
Which was currently sitting on a ledge not far from the wreck site, with the hatch torn off. Because just ripping the door off was clearly the best course of action rather than waiting for someone to show up and repair the damage that jammed it shut in the first place. God dammit, Looma.
Feel free to find her poking about the wreckage! And also offer a ride back? Hers is kinda messed up.]

He turns the shuttle about, casting his lights around for any sign of survivors. It doesn't look good from here, that's for sure.]

Great. There goes her vision for a while.]

oh god sorry I thought I already tagged back to this

FIRST BREATH SHUTTLE & SECURITY SERVICE
[Kaidan isn't a doctor or an engineer or very good at getting out to talk to people but the second he finds out there's something they can do to help out the Dasioe, he is of course quick to volunteer what services he can.
While he isn't a trained pilot in any sense, the First Breath's shuttles have benefited from the various upgrades. The trip down into the depths is likely to be a long, slow one, but there's a lot of armor and shields between you and the depths, and the man at the helm is a very good shot.]
B. Wreckage
[Once he's down here, there isn't a lot for Kaidan to do except keep an eye out for trouble. Still visibly unarmed, the soldier floats about the edges as people work, watching but trying not to interfere unless he's needed.]
Anything I can do to help?
Shuttle
He is - just barely - patient enough not to ask if Kaidan is sure the shuttle can't go any faster, and instead is staring out the window trying to force his enhanced vision to penetrate the darkness. He is also drumming idly on the console with his fingertips in a constant rhythm that betrays exactly how much patience he doesn't have for traveling at this pace.]

Don't worry, I'm sure we'll be fine. There can't be anything too dangerous in these canyons.

Team Heron
Not anymore.
The feathered monstrosity's opening burst of electromagnetic energy had thrilled up his spine, and he was just barely able to throw up a slight buffer of resistance. The shuttle was rendered mostly useless, only emergency lighting left on as the beast latched onto it.
Following that outrage, Erik had squirmed out from his seat and through the emergency exit, spear in hand. Now he's staring down at the creature and spares a moment on his communicator to ask Charles and Nancy:]
If you have any ideas, now's the time to share.
[He doesn't wait for a reply, yanking his old knife out of his belt and throwing it at the creature with as much speed as his magnetic power can muster.]

she feels her heart race - the thing isn't as horrible as the Monster and at least it can't get inside.
Still, they have to do something. It takes a moment for her to get a grip and she steels herself and tries to follow him. ]
We have to hit it hard enough so it'll let go.
[ she looks at the harpoon ]
It has to have a soft spot somewhere.
[ she narrows her eyes at the thing. ]
You think the lasers can go through water?
no subject
The centre, I would think.
[He glances back at Nancy, seeing her appear through the shuttle door.]
Only one way to find out.

Team Girl Power + that swordsman guys and a dumb sword
What he didn't realize was that most of the trip was going to be spectacularly boring as he watched the radar and comms with little to nothing to do. The ship was a bit cramped with everyone inside, but he never really minded that. As they drifted further down, there was a blip on the edge of the radar and Doudanuki blinked.
Then it was gone along with a weird buzzing noise coming from the console.
And then the ship suddenly went completely dark.]
...Uh, is that supposed to happen?
[ooc: Kahig's coming to play y'all.]

Nightingale's got her staff equipped, and there's sudden lights around her, lighting up the ship.
but they're only glowing lights, at least.]
Obviously not.

[She glances around in the pale light provided, frowning.]
Anyone got any ideas about what happened to the power?
