[hey everybody! there was an announcement over the comms system a little bit ago. it was Krista, though, so it sounded kinda... um... hard to hear. she didn't sound freaked out or anything. um. something about meeting her outside?

anyway, she is outside the ship! the weather is lovely despite them being parked in a volcano. she's stringing up some twine between the wing and the outside of the bridge so that she can hang up various herbs and strings of flowers to dry... and there may... be some animal bones laying out on the wing, too.

aaaand a small bucket with less-clean looking animal parts in it, sitting to the side. like skulls that still have some meaty bits on them. or some kind of ribcage that could use some more... cleaning... ew, Krista, I hope you used gloves.]

[ Okaaaay, Krista, that was unintelligible so Steffa's coming looking for you to clarify what you said.

Steffa glances over at the drying flowers and herbs and bones, and the bucket, and honestly doesn't even bat an eyelash. Gloves are for wearing when it's cold or to protect your hands in battle, not for cleaning bones! Gosh. ]

Did you make an announcement on the ship a few minutes ago? I couldn't quite make it out, I wasn't sure if it was important or not.

Oh... Hey Steph. Yeah, that was me.

[she finishes tying a knot at the base of the stalk of some wolfsbane... and then lets it go with a little huff. good work, girl.]

I, uh, wanted you to come out here anyway, so I guess it worked out. I, um... Well, I wanted to tell you guys something, so I guess I'll just say it while you're... you know, present...

[she's obviously a bit nervous about something, brushing off the front of her pants even though there was no dirt there...]

It's probably no big deal, but... Are there Kithain in your world? Or, um, fae? Fairies?

Not to my knowledge. It doesn't sound familiar, at any rate.

[ she's trying to look and sound as calm and unbothered as possible, because poor Krista looks so nervous ]

They're a little hard to explain, but they're... a race of people, like humans or elves or whatever, except they're made almost entirely out of magic and... imagination, and dreams, and stuff like that. They live in a world that's, um... [she gestures with one hand on top of the other...] ...Right on top of ours. Both all around us, and, um, somewhere else at the same time. It's where magic comes from. Are you following so far?

[she'll finish her knot and... dust off her pants, and... just ignore all the dead stuff okay it's probably not that weird.]

[Rubbing the back of his neck and stretching a little. Dude's not been running around enough lately.]

Uh... Yeah! Everything's okay. I just have... Something I haven't told the crew yet, and I... Thought I should let you guys know.

[boy, she seems... a little nervous. she's trying not to be, but she can't help it.]

So, um... Are there fairies, where you're from? Or, like, fae people?

Uhh, no, but there're plenty of legends, folk tales, things like that.

Okay, good. [she nods a little...] Well... My world has lots of legends and stories about them too, except that... Uh, it turns out that they're actually secretly real.

And... I'm one of them. [she points to herself.] Surprise.

[Kirian looks around with mild disgust. What the fuck was she, a warlock or something? Ugh, dead animal parts, all of this reeked of death cultism, and he gave her a LOOK and wished he still needed his case, so he could gesture at her with it.]

[Said coldly and irritably, as per usual.]

[boy, cold and irritable... her favorite. she looks over from where she's hanging up wolfsbane stalks.]

[she lets go of the knot. the twine wavers back and forth without her.]

And what, precisely is that? You play with dead things? I don't particularly care so long as the ship does not smell.

Ew, no. Dead things stay outside the ship, don't be weird.

[she... puts a hand on her hip.]

I don't know what your world is like, but do you know what fairies are? Or... Fae people? Kithain?

tadashi will simply linger by the bucket of animal parts, squinting down into it as if he's. trying to figure out if he's actually seeing what he thinks he's seeing, and - yes. he surely is. he shakes his head as if that will help him clear it, before approaching krista carefully. ]

[...hi, Tadashi. she lets go of a stalk of wolfsbane she'd been tying up, sending the whole line of twine wobbling up and down. dusts her hands off. just ignore the bucket, okay.]

Uh, no. I'm doing pretty good. I just wanted to, uh, tell you something. Well, um. Actually a couple of things...

[ he watches the line wobble with a squinted brow and an expression of almost concern, but what are you going to do even if it breaks, tadashi? something, apparently. ]
