I started by dallying. So long as you have the right tools and good intuition, you can change any recipe to your tastes. Of course, knowing how to use what you have before you is usually necessary.
[Look, he could make you a tofuburger and you wouldn't know the difference between that and a garula sirloin. You'd be in ecstasy. Just ask Noctis.]
I'm sure there is a great deal for all of us to learn from one another while we're here. So, you're not alone in that aspect.
no subject
Then I will try that sometime, should I find myself cooking again.
[Once he gets his body back you do that buddy, you prove him wrong! ]
For that, I am glad, mon ami. Luckily for me, I'm a fast learner.
no subject
I would be more than willing to assist you at that time, should it come around while we're both here.
[He totally will. Ignis is the best chef to ever chef. Way better than your stove.]
Being a fast learner will definitely come in handy here. Have you been given some sort of role for your ship then?
[Guess what his is.]
no subject
[Lumiére would probably believe it, too. ]
I have, I am a communications officer. So contacting other ships, diplomacy, that sort of thing. Not too far removed from what I did back home.
[He can make an educated guess. ]
no subject
Nonsense. Sharing a love of cooking and good food is nearly mandatory so that others can enjoy their meals more as well. Especially since we're given such... interesting ingredients. It falls to those who want to improve the lives of others with our skills to fulfil that hole.
[Ignis, Ignis please. No. Just no.]
It's slightly similar to what my position would have been back home, had war not struck.
[It's true. He'd have been steward and advisor to his king. He is advisor to Noctis. Insomnia is just going to have to do without them for a bit longer.]
The one that I have now coincides with the other half of my duties, I suppose.
no subject
I could not agree with you more.
[Ignis yes. ]
Ah. War does tend to shake things up a little. Luckily, our household has not had to deal with one. [Until the French revolution rolls up in a couple of decades anyway, that'll be super fun for him. ]
Then that is good, no? At least you will be working with the familiar.
no subject
It's rare to find someone who is actually interested in the finer details of cooking.
[For a candle, you're pretty cool. Still a bit strange though.]
You are lucky, indeed. Although, I fear it was less a war and more a large scale invasion of our entire world for unknown reasons.
[Well, he can guess the reasons and they all have to do with the Crystal and Noctis's true position.]
Familiar, yes, but it's not as if I've been given an actual choice in the matter. That does tend to taint one's perception of things.
no subject
Really? I find it a lot back home. But my country is well known for wonderful meals.
[A dinner there is never second best, and all that. ]
That is...deeply concerning. I hope it turns out well for you. [Sincerely. ]
...I suppose you are right there. Still. There are worse things.
no subject
[French cuisine, yes please.]
It remains to be seen. We don't know what the future holds, after all. But I won't be pessimistic about it either. Things can change quickly with the right pieces in play. The same could be said about our current situation as well. It's something I'll have to keep in mind so that I don't dwell too much.
no subject
That is a very good way of looking at things. There is always a silver lining to every cloud, you just need to look hard enough to find it.
no subject
[It's not so bad. Besides, he enjoys doing it.]
Wallowing in pessimism isn't my normal way of doing things. I take a rather realistic view of things, but I haven't forgotten how to hope.
no subject
Sometimes, hope is all you have. It is good to not forget it. It is always there, to fall back on, if you let it be.
no subject
[He won't pry, but talking objects are a little beyond what he would consider normal. Although, a lot of what he's going through as of late could be categorized as that.]
no subject
I don't mind at all, but that might be because I was not always a talking candelabra. I used to be human.
no subject
Indeed. I imagine that there's some sort of story behind what happened then.
[It would be in poor taste to ask how it happened. Wouldn't it?]
But I suppose that you being human before would explain how you can be so rational.
no subject
[At least he doesn't seem to mind talking about it. Even if he...omits certain truths. ]
I do not know about that. I know someone in the Fleet who is usually a sword, and he seems to do just fine.
no subject
I see. That's a little more fantastical than I was expecting, but I'm not sure why that is.
[And yet he's not asking for the full story. Because he's not going to pry and he's not going to answer any prying questions either. It's only fair.]
Ah, yes, I saw his broadcast. It was rather dramatic and I have to say that I wasn't really expecting that either. It would seem some worlds are vastly different from my own. I suppose this is just a very steep learning curve for me until I am more acquainted with the happenings aboard these ships.
no subject
[Lumiére appreciates that, people DO so like to know why he is the way he is, and while he doesn't mind telling them, it's somewhat wearing, reliving the worst day of his life over and over again. ]
Ahaha, that I can understand. Everything here is very different to what I am used to. But it is exciting to learn, no?
no subject
[Niflheim is much more advanced than Lucis, technologically, but that's to make up for their deficiency. ]
I'm not against acquiring new knowledge, but I would like to dictate at least some of the terms that I do so. However, I suppose my main duty is to just try to adjust to life here as well as I can and keep my friends safe from harm.
no subject
That is a noble calling. Keeping your friends safe. Especially in a place as strange as this.
no subject
[Because he likes books and staying busy.]
I suppose it could be seen as a calling as well. But if one isn't willing to adapt to the circumstances one finds, then they're doomed. And I don't think I am ready to roll over just yet. Are you?
no subject
[Boredom is the WORST. ]
Absolutely not! As they say, it is not over until the fat lady sings, and she is currently a wardrobe so I believe we are all safe.
