Peggy Carter's got a veritable guy-pile of suitors: Edwin Jarvis, Max Rockatansky, Jason Wilkes, Jack Thompson, Howard Stark, Stefan Salvatore, Steve Rogers, Sam Winchester, James Barnes, Clint Barton, Daniel Sousa, and counting! How many more can you name?

[ and not long after (in a state of utter pique and dismay), that same network registers a rather heartfelt reaction -- but this time with accompanying wide-eyed video. ] Jack -- Jack Thompson? Un-bloody-likely. The only thing he's ever got his eyes on is the next greasy rung on the ladder. [ peggy scoffs, disgusted. ] As pranks go, this one's been truly shambolic. The first of April was days ago.

[ in a few hours, she'll enjoy her meltdown all over again when she finds a box of sponsor gifts in the cargo bay filled with stickers, each with a different so-called suitor's name scribbled into the blank space. all of them are filled in except for an ominous pile with an attached note: in case there's so many you start to forget their names. blanks included for any others that we might have missed. ]

[ she smiles. ]

And you'd do well to make friends with Stefan Salvatore, also on the list. [ ... ] He makes some of the best shortbread.

[ don't tell jarvis. ]

[ an exotic name. not a name you'd hear in Hawkins. She pauses, bites her lip and tilts her head. ]

Are there any...girls that are, you know.

[ she's on a ship with so many men. no one to talk to about boyfriends and finding clothes. ]

-- Around your age? [ a hum. ] I think there's a young woman on the Blue Fish, but I've never met her. We had some good-hearted crewmembers here on the Starstruck but I'm afraid they've gone.

[ ... ] My First Mate only has good things to say about Kara Danvers, on the Tourist. And I trust his word implicitly.

Kara?

[ she hums and shakes her head. ]

I haven't met her yet.

[ she does so miss Barb at times like these. ]

Okay, I'll just ask. These.

[ she reaches behind her and picks up a jumpsuit. ]

I mean they fit but do we ever get something that's a bit less space and a bit more normal?

[ she doesn't really mind but still. ]

[ oh, heavens, of course. poor thing. peggy smiles -- although it's a reserved sort of smile. ]

Clothing's often available on the planets we visit. It's been bad luck that our last few stops have had few options for -- humanoids, I suppose. But you'll have to save up your credits for anything beyond the standard issue togs.

[ she looks at the jumpsuit and sighs. ]

It would have helped to have more notebooks, too.

[ clothes and papers, those seem to be her priorities. ]

Now paper I can provide. I stocked up early and often. [ ... ] You may need to bind it into notebooks yourself, however.

Really? um.

[ a decisive lip-bite. ]

I have nothing to give back yet.

It's only paper. I've got reams of it.

Thanks. It'll help a lot. I'm picking up on my algebra.

[ ... ]

I hate algebra but - I guess I needed something to keep busy with.

Algebra's not so tough once you get a taste for it.

[ she doesn't talk about it much, but mathematics is one of her strengths. ]

[ crossing her arms! huff. ]

I stay awake that's - more than you can say for most people.

[ shaking her head. ]

Just seems rude to sleep when someone's talking, you know?

Almost as rude as someone daring to be dull when you're otherwise trying very hard to stay awake.

[ she has to laugh, biting her lip. ]

You're...pretty cool. I mean, for an adult.

[ a sharp bark of laughter. ]

Cool, am I? I've been assured that's supposed to be a good thing.

It is. It's a really good thing. Grown ups aren't really like that. They don't usually talk to kids and when they do it's like they think we have no idea what's going on around us, you know?

[ this has nothing to do with barb and she's missing and something terrible happened to her, I know it and no one is listening to me. ]

I've never really met anyone who talked to a kid just like that.

A 'kid' would be a ten year old, Nancy. [ she's met soldiers younger than her who'd lied about their ages to join the war effort. no, nancy's not a child. ] I daresay you're nearer a young adult.

Can I have that in writing for my parents?

[ the most dry. ]
