Peggy Carter's got a veritable guy-pile of suitors: Edwin Jarvis, Max Rockatansky, Jason Wilkes, Jack Thompson, Howard Stark, Stefan Salvatore, Steve Rogers, Sam Winchester, James Barnes, Clint Barton, Daniel Sousa, and counting! How many more can you name?

[ and not long after (in a state of utter pique and dismay), that same network registers a rather heartfelt reaction -- but this time with accompanying wide-eyed video. ] Jack -- Jack Thompson? Un-bloody-likely. The only thing he's ever got his eyes on is the next greasy rung on the ladder. [ peggy scoffs, disgusted. ] As pranks go, this one's been truly shambolic. The first of April was days ago.

[ in a few hours, she'll enjoy her meltdown all over again when she finds a box of sponsor gifts in the cargo bay filled with stickers, each with a different so-called suitor's name scribbled into the blank space. all of them are filled in except for an ominous pile with an attached note: in case there's so many you start to forget their names. blanks included for any others that we might have missed. ]

For him to have said yes to anything, Mister Jarvis, there would have first needed to be a question that was asked. [ and there wasn't, she maintains. ]

Mister Jarvis. [ are your ready for a bit of sentimentality? she's earned it, she supposes, by this point. ] It's remarkable how much you've changed. And remarkable how much you haven't.

Well, I... I did learn how to swim between here and there.

Swimming! [ let her at least play at being impressed. ] Who taught you that, then?

A rather rude uncle who thought the best method of teaching a child how to swim was to throw them in and rescue them later... The unfortunate side effect of being an aggressively strange fellow from a military background, I must assume.

But I did learn. It seemed more enjoyable than sinking.

Oh, I don't know. [ ... ] Seems like a rather efficient way to impart a lesson, if you ask me.

[ never let this woman have children. ]

For the record, Miss Carter, it is best to teach children lessons without psychologically scarring them with fear of death. In this instance drowning.

Oh, piffle. I doubt you would have genuinely drowned. [ but the fear of it? might be motivating. ]

Teaching children through any method but care and kindness is a terrible thing, Miss Carter.

All that lesson taught me was to never trust my uncle around a large body of water.
