[ Elena wakes with a start, her first thought being that she'd fallen asleep in one of the unused patient rooms. She rubs her arms with her hands, an attempt to chase away the chill and gives the room a good look. This isn't any room in the hospital. She puts her feet on the ground and stands. She's still dressed in the long-sleeved thermal top and blue scrubs she wears at work. She tucks a strand of her dark hair behind one ear.
Once she orients herself and does a little bit of exploring, she heads to one of the screens to browse the network and get a better grasp of this place. After that's done, she makes her own broadcast, giving the video screen a sheepish smile. ]
Hi, I'm Elena Gilbert. I just arrived and I've got no idea what to say here. Am I supposed to tell the class all about myself? I think I used to be good at this. [ She takes a deep breath then releases it. ] Whatever this is. I can honestly say this is my first time on a reality show though.

[ She smiles a little at the screen. ] The foreign universe is new to me, but weird isn't. You can call me Elena. [ Or if he insists on titles: Dr. Gilbert. ] It's nice to meet you, Jarvis. Have you been here a while?

But if it makes you feel any better, he always calls Stefan Mr. Salvatore. No one is safe.]
I've been here for a few months. Hardly an achievement compared to some, but still far too long to be a captive, however nice the accommodations are. I would take advantage of being aboard the Marsiva, on that note! The kitchen especially!

The mention of the word 'captive', she sobers and swallows hard. That's the difficult part of it, isn't it? They didn't choose to be here. They've all got lives elsewhere, or she assumes they do. Of course, she hadn't quite thought of it like that yet; she hasn't had time to want to leave and Stefan, who's dead in her world, is here. She forces a small smile. ]
The kitchen? Things seem a little sparse here. Are the other ships worse?

That sounds like some sort of fad diet my best friend might have tried to talk me into.

I've managed to work with what we have, though, and if you are in need of anything more edible, do let me know. I work as a chef at a bar aboard the Iskaulit, and I host breakfast and dinner meetings for my crew on the Tourist. But you're more than welcome to stop by for some, too.

Oh, I try to avoid them at any time. [ She's fortunate that as long as she eats well most of the time, she maintains her weight. ]
That's very sweet of you. I might take you up on that offer once I get access to a shuttle. Have you always been a chef?

Not quite; I've just always enjoyed baking.
I'm actually a butler to an inventor; a simple job description, but it's apt.

Stefan tried to teach me to cook back home, but he failed pretty spectacularly.
[ That gets a sort of surprised look from her. ] Is that anything like a household manager?
[ She's thinking that maybe it's a more PC title like administrative assistant.]

[He's distracted from that sad thought by -- oh. He blinks.]
I suppose that is a way to put it... I handle quite a lot of Mr. Stark's estate, as a servant of sorts at his place of residence. A butler certainly manages a lot.

I can really only imagine. We weren't really butler-having people back home. At least, no one I know was.
[ Though she knows Stefan and Damon had a family member manage the Salvatore estate while they were gone all those years from Mystic Falls. She's not quite sure that counts as a butler. ]

As said butler, I wouldn't mind helping you. Or at least making sure you don't go hungry while you practice burning things less and less.

I'm not sure the hope is strong with me, but I'm willing to give it another shot. After all, I have to be an adult and eat from something besides the vending machine at some point.
