Who: Lioriley and, you guessed it, YOU
Broadcast: Fleet-wide
Action: Marsiva
When: 03/17 - 03/21 idk how this works ok.
[ waking up in a bed you know for certain isn't your own is alarming. alarming enough to fall off the bed comically and firing up the audience you have no idea is watching just yet? not quite. lioriley isn't so graceless that her introduction to the new world of space is actually entertaining to watch. she wakes up, groggy and confused, and then slowly slides from the cot and stands there.
and... continues to stand there. for like five minutes. just looking around at everything that should be confusing to her but isn't. how does she know what those light fixtures are called? how does she know that the weird thing in her pocket is a communicator meant to access the 'network' of people that could be watching her every move right now. how does she know that?
the dark elf finally moves, spins around on her heel and faces one of the windows nearby. she knows she's on a ship, in space, and she's staring at billions of stars against an endless sea of black. she knows that... and yet its still so foreign. ]
How did I-- [ she starts to ask no one in particular about her predicament, still staring somewhat vacantly out in the depths of space. ] Can anyone hear me? [ SHE KNOWS YOU CAN!!! ]
action:
[ after the initial surprise of waking up and talking to... whoever decides to speak with her, lioriley ends up wandering the ship, searching for anything and everything that might be of particular interest. she doesn't seem all that alarmed, outwardly, though she does seem a little tentative still as she aimlessly meanders about the ship.
anyone that wants to approach her is free to do so. it's likely she'll do the same for any other passengers unwillingly thrust into the ship recently; asking questions about what they know (do you suddenly understand what's going on isn't that weird?), where they came from, and probably what the hell they're supposed to do now. come be confused with her! :D ]

Currently, there are about 65 of us.
no subject
Are you aware of how frequently newcomers arrive?
no subject
Once a week. You should be getting some fellow passengers soon. At the end of this week, you'll each be assigned to a smaller ship.
[She takes a deep breath. Now for the harder part.]
There's more. Each of us has been implanted with a device called an augment that alters our minds, gives us different abilities.
[She turns around and lifts up the hair from the nape of her neck so that Lioriley can see the augment. Once she gives her a good look, she turns back around.]
You may find, for example, that you suddenly know how to pilot a ship or that you know how to use the weapons on board, no matter how different they are from what you are used to. We haven't been able to remove the device successfully yet, and trying to do so apparently causes intense pain.

when the augment is mentioned though, the dark elf raises her hand to feel across the back of her neck. a shiver runs down her spine - there's something alien inside her. could it interfere with her magic? is it magic itself? ]
I had been curious as to how I knew all of this upon waking up. There is so much information I know for certain I did not possess previously. [ it's convenient to a degree, but mostly intrusive. ] And everyone that arrives has one? What about the locals - are there locals?

[She sounds very disapproving of what she's about to explain next.]
Right now, we're orbiting a planet where the inhabitants are unaware that anything or anybody exists outside their own land. They're kept here by another race that purposely keeps their society from advancing so visitors can receive an "authentic" historical experience. This isn't typical of most planets the fleet visits, or so I'm told. I've only seen this one so far and I can't say I like it much.
no subject
So they are forced to remain unaware and static for the sake of creating an experience more pleasing to those that visit? I hardly see why that would be appealing to anyone, so I do not blame you for disliking it. [ she frowns, ] Is there nothing that can be done about it?
no subject
Nothing much we can do, I'm afraid. We can only stray so far from the main ship, and Atroma will be moving us to a new planet in a month. Starting a revolution is one thing, but rebuilding in the aftermath is another.
no subject
but aside from that? there's no indicate that she's upset about it. her voice remains steady, ]
A fair enough point. Perhaps we will be able to see them again - when we have more time. [ optimism. ]
no subject
Maybe. [She doesn't sound too hopeful.] If we had some outside help. Unfortunately, we are in a frighteningly similar situation to theirs, except that we know, to an extent, what's happening to us.
no subject
yeah, she'd rather be here honestly. ]
I suppose there is little to be done, then. Let us hope our next venture does not seem so familiar.

In the meantime, do you have any more questions? I know this is a lot of information all at once. If you need time, I understand. You can always contact me later, on the SS Blue Fish.

...And should you require anything of me - though I am not entirely certain what could be done given our current situation - do feel free to contact me as well.
