[The video kicks on from an odd angle but you see a woman's hands trying to scrap the paint off of a musical triangle. They are silver except for the part where they are covered in tiny pink and red hearts. Love triangles! When that doesn't seem to be working she takes two of them and slides them into each other. Except she does it in a way that break the laws of physics. Solid matter is slipping through other solid matter. Then she removes one of her hands and they simply freeze that way. She picks up another one, continuing her sculpture.]

Hmm? [A hand moves toward the screen as she picks up her communicator, revealing Kitty's face.] Who turned you on? Right. Silly question.

Hi, everyone. I guess the Atroma wanted you to be in on this. Soooo, I have a crate of triangles for all you music lovers or people who might want to repurpose the metal. Let me know.

Oh, and as long as I'm here, the dance studio is officially up and running on the Iskaulit. Or up and just sitting there like studios tend to do. I'll post a sign up sheet on the door with some various types of dance I can feasibly teach. So mostly ballet, modern, and I'll give ballroom a shot since it's going to be the most popular. But go ahead and use the space to practice or perform when there isn't a class going on.

[She means to end the feed there, but a text she had nothing to do with goes out afterward.]

Kitty is actually 10 cats stacked on each other. Kitty is a ghost—she's dead and she can walk through walls. Ironically, Kitty likes it doggy style. Kitty is so tough Chuck Norris is scared of her. Kitty is secretly growing catnip in the Twin Roses garden. [She manages to slightly distort the end of the message.]

[She laughs.] So many date rules and obligations. Okay. On the 22nd, the day I thought was our anniversary until you convinced me I was wrong, I am going to date the hell out of you no matter where we are, sir. Wear something nice.

Yes ma'am!

[ he salutes with an excited smile before leaning in for a kiss. ]

[She brings her hands up to his face and warmly returns the kiss.] I like this. I mean, of course I like the kiss, but I like this romance thing we do. I never would have guessed that would be me. [Certainly nothing she prioritized back home. And in the prison their was ample opportunity and sometimes she and Reid had romantic moments, but it was nothing like this. And it didn't feel like anything was missing. This just feels like so much extra. But it's a nice extra.]

Oh, I always knew it was me, just never had anyone to take it out on.

[ and his circumstances were also never as intense as they are here. with so much downtime, he spends a lot of hours just thinking about her and what she'd like and what he could do for her next. ]

[Classic stalker behavior.

Kidding. Kidding. She thinks a lot about him too. It's just always in the back of her thoughts if not the front. And he comes up a lot in her conversations. He's her favorite and it shows. Just spending time with him is all she needs, but she does enjoy these occasional productions. She finds them very touching and she thinks he more than deserves the same in return so she's happy to do them even if her more natural state might be more in the vein of "I got you your favorite kind of cheese."]

I could see that. Tiny Winn with everything to give. [She kisses him softly.] I'm really glad I got to you before anyone else here. You've improved my life in ways and to levels I never could have hoped for.

[ getting him any kind of cheese is a feat he would praise for months, okay. he doesn't need big productions - the peanut butter-esque spread meant as much to him as if she would have gotten all his friends in cosplay and organized his own private comic-con. just that she's thinking about him, that she wants to do things for him is amazing. it took him a long time to be able to accept that it's okay for him to encourage her to do these things, that he's not being a bother, that he deserves to have nice things done for him, but he's always enjoyed them. ]

I love our story. [ so much smitten goofiness on his face. ] First person I talked to here turned out to be the love of my life. It's poetic.

Love of your life. [She repeats, smiling widely. She likes hearing that. She's pretty sure she said it to him before too.] Our kid is going to hate hearing the story over and over. [Too far?]

[ they've both said it more than once. he likes repeating it all the same. ]

Who can hate such a nice story? [ it's still more than a little scary, and they still never really talked about their difference of opinion in the how that kid should join their family, but for now he's not delving too deep into anything. ]

Oh, I'm going to tell it a lot. Plus, the story of how great you were last year, last month, last week, yesterday. You're pretty great. [Probably wouldn't really gush to their kid constantly about their father, but maybe.]

[ well she's gonna have to, otherwise they'll never understand how such a huge nerd got her to date him, let alone marry him. ]

Good reason to never miss out on story time.

[Maybe in a new environment her nerdom will surpass even his!]

What if I start posting love letters to you directly to the network?

Maybe I'll publish my poetry. [ he clears his throat and recites ] Roses come in a variety of colors, if violets aren't violet they should really reconsider their name, this doesn't rhyme anymore, I love you.

[ yeah, unlikely. ]

[She laughs and pulls him down into her bed and then lays down so her head is in his lap, looking up at him.] My talented boyfriend. How did I get someone as adorable as you and how haven't I broken you yet?

[ he instantly begins to play with her hair. ]

You only make me better.

[She should assume this position more often. She likes the hair playing.] Same to you.

Hey, Winn? I have a thing I've been thinking about that I'd like to talk out with you.

[ it's one of the reasons he likes that position so much himself. ]

Shoot.

The Twin Roses still doesn't have a security or engineering person which means if something happens we can't use shields or ship-wide weapons. [Her crew has personal weapons at this point so no real worries there.] I don't like that. Especially now that we've been attacked. We had a lot of overlap until Anders and Hawke left. I was going to see if anyone there wanted to switch augments, but now the only overlap is in piloting. And I don't know how I feel about the idea of changing for a lot of reasons. I don't like accepting anything with the augments at all. Switching them doesn't seem as bad as adding to me, and I guess I could live with engineering, but I don't love the thought either.

[ he sighs and just continues to quietly stroke her hair for a while. it's a tough one. he doesn't like the idea of changing, of doing anything with these augments besides getting them the hell out. but he does understand her concern - he shares it. after having been attacked...of course he'll sleep easier if her ship has shields. but why must it be her? ]

Did you ask Vash how he feels about switching? [ he knows it's selfish, but why should it have to be her, subjecting herself to more atroma alteration? he's a captain too, the safety of the ship rests on his shoulders as well.

maybe he should bite the bullet and transfer. that way she won't have to. it's not like he can't hang out with the tourist crew just because he doesn't have a room there...he's still reluctant, he'll always be reluctant, he knows his time with them is limited and he wants to enjoy every last second with them. but for kitty's safety, it's a stupid reason not to do it. ]

Not yet. I figured I should figure out how I feel. And with two more crew members gone maybe the thing that makes more sense is to ask around and see if anyone else wants to transfer to our ship with or when getting those augments. [She doesn't mean him when she says this. She doesn't want to take him from his family there. She's not even as comfortable on the Twin Roses now as she had been on the Windrose, so she really doesn't want to ask him to leave. Especially when she's not sure she'd want to go to the Tourist. She likes everyone there, but they'd have to expand it for her and she'd be leaving her crew and what if Kurt didn't want to come? What if he resented her for leaving? It's a lot and she'd love to just let it all work itself out, but if they get attacked the only advantage they have right now is maneuverability and she doesn't even want them to upgrade that because it will affect her augment as well.]

I kind of like that the two of us have different augments. I mean, I hate that either of us have augments at all, but you know what I mean. We compliment each other instead of just overlapping. [And they are a team beyond the ships.]

[ he nods ]

Yeah, I like that too. And I really don't like the idea of asking the Atroma to mess with our brains. [ he knows they can do it anyway whenever they like, but going to them, paying them to do it...it feels like surrendering. ] The Tourist has two engineers. If it doesn't work out, I could...transfer. [ just saying it hurts. it would have its ups, for sure, it'd be nice to live with her - one room, not having to decide where they go every day, but he wouldn't be as comfortable. he likes the crew of the twin roses fine - well, the ones he knows, at least - but they're not his best friend from home, his big bro who has been taking care of him pretty much since he arrived, fenris who's like a brother, jarvis who's become a part of the family so quickly and seamlessly it's like he's been there all along. he wouldn't feel as safe, he wouldn't feel as happy. maybe he could officially transfer and keep sleeping in his room...but that would only last until they get another transfer to occupy the space. ]

[She believes that if Winn was around more he'd have closer bonds with her crew too. He's a lovable guy and she cares about her crew. If he and Kurt can bond then he definitely can with any of them. But it doesn't mean she wants him to sacrifice like that. She sits up and gives him a proper, tight hug.] I love that you would, but they're your family and I don't want it to come to that either. I'll keep trying other options. I won't make a decision about my augment without you. [It is her final decision of course, but they are at a point where she figures big decisions need to be a partnership.]

[ he holds her tight. ]

They'll still be my family no matter where I sleep at night. [ if she can't get anyone else, it would make sense for him to transfer. he could still crash on the couch sometimes, when she's having friends night with kurt. transferring is the right thing to do, the heroic thing.

being a hero sucks sometimes.

he should do it right away, but he still hopes that she could find another solution. ]

[She really wants to find another solution for him. Even though it would be nice to settle down on one ship together too. Of course, she'd miss visiting the Tourist much and there is something about going back and forth that is disruptive in a good way. It keeps he from feeling so stir crazy on the ships. But building a home that felt more permanent would be nice too. And no one on this hip has superhearing...]

True, but I want you to feel at home. Safe.

[ as for safe...no there's no denying that the tourist is his safe space. he knows kitty and kurt would protect him, he doesn't think anyone on the twin roses would do him harm or let harm come to him...but the tourist is a lighter ship, when it comes to fighting. if he were on the windrose during that attack, he's pretty sure he wouldn't be the same anymore, and it scares him. he feels so much safer with kara and jim. ]

You're my home too. [She holds him tighter. She didn't miss the part where he didn't respond to the safety and she doesn't think it's because it just didn't seem necessary. The part where she's part of what would make him feel unsafe because of what he might see her do is hard. Not that she knows what she's thinking, but she thought it herself after the fight was over. It was efficient. They won. But it was brutal and ugly and she doesn't want him to see her that way. She doesn't want to be that way for him but she's also scared of not being that way and failing to protect him someday because of it. She's not as powerful as Kara. No one is. She may have more training and experience and an impressive power but that girl has like six impressive powers. She can afford to take it easier.]
