[She's been taking a break from her own performing elsewhere to listen to Tina.]

And it's about the only kind of music I CAN play. I can't really sing. Mom and Gene are the musical ones in my family.

I mean, if people are willin' to give you money for it, maybe you should perform some of it! I could help you if you didn't wanna do it alone.

Well, I'm not going to turn down money, but I'm not sure if they like my playing or they just think I'm a poor beggar...

It's definitely 'cause they like your playing, Tina. I could sing somethin' to go with it if you want. It'd be a duet!

Uhm, if you want to sing, I'd appreciate it. I have a feeling if I start to, though, it'll drive people away.

[Tina considers that.]

Suppose I could give it a shot, if people are impressed enough by my straw playing to give me money. And if it is bad, I can just stop.

[Tina thinks for a moment- one can almost see the gears in her brain churning as she tries to conjure a song on the spot, like her mom had such a talent for doing.

However, all that comes out is a groan.]

Uhhhhh... turns out trying to compose something on the spot isn't as easy as I thought...

Ehe, not really... I could start something and you can pick it up? I can give you my music player if you wanna listen to the song too.

[continuousgroaning]

I think that would be better, please. Plus, all of the songs I can remember my mom singing, well. She'd sing about everyday things, and I'm not sure our audience would be interested in that.

[She passes an earbud over to Tina so that she can listen too, and then cycles through the player until she comes across a relatively cutesy sounding song. (english lyrics)]

Here, this is from one of my favorite singers! We could always change the "Open, Ranka!" part to one of our names instead of hers...

[Tina puts the earbud in, nodding along and soon finding a rhythm with her straw.]

I like this song. It's really cute and really hopeful. [She hums along a little.] Is this a song from your world?

Uh-huh! Ranka Lee was my idol. Everythin' on here is from home, 'cause I got it from one of those dungeon runs.

Do you wanna do the song? I could figure out another.

[continuousgroaning]

Nah, let's do this one. I'll... I'll hum along or something. [Tina looks at the crowd around them, and suddenly starts to groan softly.] Uhhhhhhhhhhh...

[When she hears the uhhhh, she steps in front of Tina, giving her a reassuring smile.]

I already do that. ... uhm, I do that some of the time, I mean, not all the time, what sort of weirdo would do that all the time, right? Ha, ha, ha...

[There's a long, puzzled look for a second, since she wasn't expecting to hear that answer. At least, not that kind of answer.

And then she turns pink.]

Wait, what!?

[continuousgroaning]

[Oh, no, part of Tina thinks- here it comes, the part where she finds out I'm weird and stops talking to me, but she shoves that aside, tries a different tack-]

I mean, I mean, I used to have terrible stage fright when I was younger. Sometimes I still do. So I'm familiar with that way of overcoming it.

[livesfastdiesung]

[For what it's worth, that seems to roll right off of her and she cheers up—it's almost like nothing weird was said at all.]

Then just keep it up! There's no way you're gonna be anything other than fine.

[continuousgroaning]

[And Tina lets out a sigh of relief.]

Then, let's try this again. You sing, I'll play the cup and hum along. Maybe I can try singing something by Boyz 4 Now afterward.

[And she's completely distracted from singing.]

My favorite boy band back home. They're all pretty dreamy. I even got to see them in concert once when Aunt Gayle got tickets for herself and me and Louise.
