[a smirk, and a pause.]

You realize we're, like, legally required to duet.

Who says there isn't.

[ question is - what are you willing to give him for it! ]

Well, I definitely do not want to get in trouble with the law. [ seriously. he's terrified of the concept. ] Just Give Me a Reason? [ since she said she likes pink. ]

[robitussin]

You can't say that and not let me see it immediately. Cruel and unusual punishment.

[An extremely serious (not) nod, before a slightly more sincere one at his suggestion.]

Betting pool for who can get more tips?

You gotta work for that one. If I just give them to you, what will you learn?

[ really, he's doing it for your own good, little sister! ]

You sure you wanna go there? I have a fan base, you know - [ and that is. so weird. ]

I'll learn even more about your fashion sense that's strange but apparently appealing to aliens? Seems like enough of a lesson to me.

[At that, though, she puts on her most confident face with a shake of her head.]

Pretty sure I got this. Don't underestimate me.

[ making a wrong-answer buzzer sound ] Try again.

[ he gestures for her to lead the way to the stage ]

Wouldn't dream of it. What are our stakes? And don't say the pictures unless you have something of equal value to offer -

That totally counts as a lesson. Your buzzing noises are wrong.

[lead the way she does, looking back at him over her shoulder.]

If you have something in mind, I'm all ears.

[ he shrugs ]

I dunno, I've been making too many of these lately, I'm out of stakes.

[robitussin]

Totally does. My word is law, which is also true because I said so.

Well, if you've got nothing, how about we see who wins first and then decide?

As long as you promise not to make 'I trust you' my famous last words.

[robitussin]

I'm going to go ahead and guess that won't be the case. I'll make sure to limit myself to non-fatal choices.

[ he gestures for her to go ahead. when he makes the stage (to the sound of some applause, someone's been starting to get some fans) he introduces her before starting up the song ]

[robitussin]

[she heads up as he gestures, adjusting the microphone and giving the audience an awkward wave as he introduces her]

You ready?

[winn]

Born ready. [ he grins and gestures for her to go ahead. ]

[robitussin]

[as the music starts and she starts to sing along, it's pretty clear that she wasn't exaggerating about being a fan - the words seem familiar enough to her that she doesn't stumble them as she goes, and her voice is strong enough that she gets a few cheers throughout. she looks a little nervous as she goes, but it's more or less the same level of nervous she always is.]

[ when it's his turn to join in, it suddenly hits him that this is kind of an awkward song to be singing with his little sister, so his first attempt to look her way causes a burst of giggles, and the rest of the song he's looking into the audience - no connecting here!

he does have the lyrics down pat, and his voice is strong, even if his technique isn't always flawless; he makes up for it enough in enthusiasm to get them cheers. ]

[robitussin]

[when it's over, she gives the audience another wave and even manages a smile for the sake of showmanship, before she sets the mike back on it's stand and turns to him.]

I was also kind of wondering why you chose that, but I guarantee I feel as weird about it as you do, so I can agree to let it slide.

You like Pink and it's the only duet that came to mind?

[ smiling at the audience as he sets his own mic down and leads her off stage ]

Learn from my mistakes - think more, drink less.

[robitussin]

I can probably manage at least one of those.

[either way, she follows as he leads her away, giving the audience one last glance]

How're you liking the planet, though?

[winn]

It's not bad - I mean, this asteroid, at least. [ it's expensive, but it feels a lot safer than the others and can you really put a price on safety? (apparently you can, because he's pinching pennies over here and staying on the cheaper asteroids usually). ] How 'bout you?

[robitussin]

It's nice. I mean, rock music isn't my thing as far as music goes, but I'll never say no to any kind. Pretty cool overall. It's nice to get off the ships again no matter what, so.

[a shrug.]

Yeah, I'm definitely always gonna be a fan of solid ground under my feet.

[robitussin]

Right, not a fan of heights, I remember. I can definitely get behind that. Is a spaceship not solid enough most days?

I mean, I'm used to it now but when I just got here I couldn't look out a window.
