Who would have thought the terrifying Lord of Calamity would have so many adoring fans?
It's only when she's given a moments break that Eizen finally approaches, casually glancing over at the slowly scattering locals, their attentions still on her seemingly fashionable attire. ]
Having fun?
no subject
You know I'm not.
[But when she turns toward him, giving him her full attention, she's not glaring. It's nice to see him in person. There just aren't that many people around that she's very comfortable with, and she's only talked to him on the communication devices so far. Those are still a little weird to her.]
Must be nice to be invisible.
[Or at least she assumes there aren't many locals with strong resonance.]
no subject
Lips curved all Eizen can do is shrug, not at all amused by the locals distinct lack of interest of something they can't see. ]
It has it's advantages.
no subject
[Maybe it could be to her advantage, too. If people see her talking to someone who's not there, maybe they'll think she's crazy and leave her alone for awhile.
She sighs, shifting a little.]
How are you settling in?
[She's referring to the fleet overall rather than the asteroid belt specifically. She hasn't really had the chance to talk to him since they first arrived, so she's curious.]
no subject
I won't lie and say it has been smooth. [ He cocks his head to the side. ] I found out I am die a thousand years in the future and my sister is bound to a Shepherd.
[ Yeah, things could be going better. ]
Not to mention I miss the ocean breeze, the sound of sails being hoisted up, the cry of orders being tossed around the Van Eltia. These metal ships just don't come close to her magnificence.
no subject
You mean, Sorey? You met?
[She doesn't jump to voice it, but she also sort of agrees with him about how the space ships compare to the Van Eltia. She's found herself missing it a few times, herself.]
no subject
[ He didn't avoid telling her per say, he simply didn't mention it. Hadn't felt like broaching that subject after his own poor reaction to the information. ]
I haven't met him yet, last I check he was asleep.
no subject
Yeah. He told me. Even after he knew I was a daemon who hated Shepherds. He felt I had a right to know, I guess. Stupid kid. Probably too honest for his own good.
[She's not angry, though. Not any more, at least.]
What do you mean he's asleep?
no subject
[ But it makes sense, considering all that he had been told about Sorey. A kid like that... It is a good thing he has so many powerful seraphim by his side. ]
Just as I said, he's in some sort of deep sleep. It happened to Zaveid for a time as well.
no subject
[She raises an eyebrow.]
It's not unusual for malakhim to take naps, though.
[She hasn't heard exorcists doing it, but then again this place is weird.]
I guess you managed to track him down?
[Zaveid, she means. She got the impression he hadn't spoken to Eizen when they first arrived.]
no subject
Aye, I did. He acted like he seen a ghost, though I guess he had in a way.
no subject
She sighs and crosses her arms, considering his words.]
I guess. He had to face you sooner or later, though.
[She knows what Sorey told her about what happened to Eizen, and she figures it probably would be hard on Zaveid. But she also doesn't see what good avoiding the issue would do.]
no subject
[ And in a way he can't blame Zaveid, not really. After what he had to do... Well, most people rather not see those they have killed come back to life.
Eizen exhales, shaking his head slightly. What's done is done, right? ]
no subject
[She didn't know Zaveid nearly as well as Eizen did, but she was learning he could be pretty avoidant and cagey when he wanted to be.]
It's good he came around, though.
no subject
[ He doesn't know what will become of it, whether or not things will get better as days go on, but he isn't going to focus on it. No point. What happens will happen. ]
So I take it you know about him. Sorey, that is.
no subject
I know some things. He's a Shepherd from the future who doesn't like to lie. And I guess he's Zaveid's vessel. That's about it.
[She's only met him once, after all. She didn't have time to learn a lot of intimate details.]
no subject
[ Considering her past experiences with the title of Shepherd. ]
no subject
You should have been there when he first used the word Shepherd.
[That alone made her want to lash out. But Sorey managed to knock her off guard and distract her. Just by being himself.]
He's nothing like Artorius, though. He's too earnest. [She shakes her head a little] He'd never even heard of him.
[She has a lot of anger in her, but it's really hard to project that at someone who bears so little resemblance to the person she hates. And honestly the fact that Sorey had never heard of Artorius or his ideals felt pretty damn good.]
no subject
I've been told the same. [ He could hear it in Sorey's voice when they first spoke, in the concern he had for Eizen. ] This new Shepherd isn't corrupted by the ugliness of the world. He cares for malakhim, doesn't treat us like tools to be thrown away when we're no longer of use.
[ Eizen exhales, gaze turning somewhat distant. ]
Even my sister trusts him.
[ If anything were to prove the validity of what Dezel had told him, what Zaveid had told him, it was that. ]
I can't say I am surprised. When people learned the truth of what he had tried to do, he would have looked less like a savoir they had painted him as. What remained of the Abbey wouldn't have wanted themselves associated with him, in order to survive I wouldn't be surprised if they tore it all from the history books. Made it so the future wouldn't be able to discover what they had tried to do.
no subject
She sighs and shakes her head slightly at his explanation about the abbey.]
I was surprised.
[Of course she'd also been on her way into a rage at the time, and wasn't thinking logically. Plus, she'd never been a student of history, and she certainly never experienced as much of it as Eizen probably had. But especially when she found out the term Shepherd was still being used, she thought it meant he'd gone down in history as some sort of martyr. She knew the church could spin things if they wanted to.]
He thanked me, you know. [She's referring to Sorey.] For defying Artorius.
[He's a stupid, sappy kid, Eizen. She couldn't eat anyone that sappy.]
no subject
I'm guessing, of course, who can really say how the Abbey will go about cleaning up their mess.
[ They will either erase Artorius' actions from history or spin a tale more befitting them, turn him into some sort of martyr, a holy figure to be revered by the grieving masses who still think him to be such. Regardless he knows they will find some way to clean it up, to twist it to their advantage, just as they always do.
Her next words give him a pause, eyebrows raising slightly. ]
He did? [ Huh. ] You told him what Artorius was trying to do, I take it.
[ Tilting his head slightly Eizen finds himself smiling, just a little. ]
That must have been a first.
no subject
[It was very much a first. She still feels a little awkward about it, because she knows she did what she did for selfish reasons, not because she was altruistic. But she'd told Sorey as much as well, and he still thanked her.
She crosses her arms, leaning against a nearby wall and sighing.]
He said he wanted to know the truth of the Shepherd's origins, so I told him. [A shrug.] I guess whatever they teach in the future has nothing to do with Artorius' beliefs or Innominat.
no subject
Either people forgot, or they thought it better to never give mention to either of them.
