I do what I can. [She misses the battlefield sometimes. She doesn't want to need to kill people. She doesn't want to die herself. But there was a rush and a thrill to the fight that she came to thrive on. It was hard to find things to keep you going and you tended to take them where you could. Dancing helps though. Lots of things help little by little if only to take some of that hunger away and replace it with more sustainable things.]

Mmm...[She twists to see what he's seeing and while her eyes do land on the couple, she doesn't see anything out of the ordinary.] The lack of bloodshed? Smiling faces? Dancing? Happiness? [But as she runs through a not-quite-joking list of possibilities she manages to see the scene from an earlier perspective which is always easier when she's around Kurt.] The men dancing with each other openly? All good updates.

[So does he, though Kurt's left the wish to love it less in the dust. This blood thirst is part of him, and all he hopes for now is not to let it turn him on the people he loves. That doesn't mean he scoffs at other outlets; moving with Katzchen here on the dance floor is remarkably like moving in simpatico with her on the battle field.]

Didn't say they weren't. [And his smile hasn't faded; there is warmth in his voice despite a tinge of tightness from nerves. If this goes badly-- Kurt swallows, ducks his head to speak right in her ear.] It brings to mind a very interesting discussion Winn and I had, not so long ago.

[She's glad that speaking directly in her ear negates some of his ability to see her facial reaction because that surprises her. She assumes Winn must have said something about his own feelings. He's never used the word bisexual, but it seems like maybe it's a fit, not that she's planning to label him for him. But Winn has so much trouble even talking to her about that. Maybe it was something else.] Oh, really? What kind of discussion?

[..Really, Kitty? It's a good thing his tail is occupied with holding his drink, because for a second he's sorely tempted to swat the backs of her legs for her impertinence.]

The kind of conversation that two obviously involved men dancing together would remind me of. [Is there enough sarcasm in that sentence? He could add more. The next, however, is utterly free of it.] I wasn't cruel, if you're worried about that. It was a very.. illuminating discussion. It never occurred to me that there needed to be a word for that sort of thing.

[It's not like she thought Winn was hitting on him!]

You're going to have to fill in the blanks for me, Kurt. [If for no other reason than she isn't willing to betray something Winn is sensitive about, but she knows Kurt will spot a lie a mile away with her.]

[No, but one of his worries is that she won't trust him around Winn alone after this. Darkholme reputation and all. It is distantly surprising how much the thought hurts.]

He told me that during your time as a man, he'd realized that he would have found you attractive if you'd always been that way. [And thank goodness for the loudness of the dance floor; Kurt can continue speaking into her ear without fear of being overheard.]

[She trusts them both.]

[She nods slightly, not trying to bump the mutant next to her in the process.] I'm surprised. He barely even talks with me about it. [And on one hand it's nice that he has been able to talk to someone else and that it means he and Kurt are closer when they both mean the world to her. On the other she might be just the tiniest bit envious. Wanting Winn to feel free to talk to her too. Her jealousy with Winn—when it does raise it's head which is less and less to almost never—is always in the form of mental and emotional intimacy rather than physical.]

How did you get him to open up?

Glitch. I peeled him off a cliff because he'd decided to go rock climbing with no gear, and once he was on the ground he was talking my head off.

[Despite the seriousness of the discussion and the knots his stomach is tying into, Kurt sounds vaguely amused. And then not, as he remembers what he was like when Kitty knew him best and hurries to assure her;] I wasn't unkind to him. Just.. afraid for him, and very confused.

["Glitch" quickly defuses any of the envy she felt, replacing it with concern for him. She remembers the glitch in question and the way he clung to her, fearing he'd do dangerous things and knowing how hard it was to navigate accidental suggestions. It started blurring the lines of consent even with the two of them who were so close and in sync in those areas usually. Of course, she's not worried about it manifesting that way between him and Kurt. But it does sound like he said things he probably wasn't ready to say to Kurt.]

Good. [She shift so give Kurt's cheek a kiss.] Winn means a lot to me. If I have anything to say about it the three of us will be in each other's lives for a long time. [Knowing, of course, she has very little to say about that, but the thought counts for something, right?]

And I think you're better than the way you felt about things back then. [It was a different context—not that she's fully aware of the extent of it or how much came from Sabertooth's influence. She doesn't blame him for how it was. It's nothing she ever gave much thought to herself, but she does expect him to change with their surroundings.]

[He did; and in his mental gymnastics to keep the worst of his and his mother's secrets, Kurt had let slip something he'd never told a soul, though he suspected Linda knew. It just wasn't something they talked about, because it was something he ignored.

Kurt smiles, both at the kiss and the statement.] If one of us vanishes, I expect you to come to our rescue like a knight in shining armor.

[That gets a weak smile.] You always think I'm better than that. I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I still think religion is childish at best.

On a unicorn if I have to. [Or a unicorn skeleton. Whatever she finds.]

As luck would have it, guys liking other guys is frowned on in a lot of religions. Being cool with that is like an extra, "screw you" to that.

[That gets a chuckle out of him.] I highly recommend riding a unicorn into battle. I don't care that mine was rotting, that was one of the most wonderful experiences of my life.

That it is. [He leans in to press a kiss to her forehead, intending to tell her then; and wavering at the last second.] You're alright with it, that your boyfriend is attracted to men as well?

I'll take your word for it. [Like she'd pass it up if it was presented. Unless it was presented like Pinkie Pie as a unicorn and then it might be weird again.]

I am really deep in love here. I can't even imagine what it would take to shake me loose. So I'm good. Plus...... He's not exactly the first bisexual man I've been with. And with Jack I knew up front. He was very open and well practiced. This was in the prison, obviously.

[Kurt's eyebrows start raising when she mentioned being with another bisexual man, and try their best to shoot for mid-forehead the longer she explains.]

Oh, obviously. Katherine Pryde, if your sex life ends up to have been more adventurous as well as starting earlier than mine, I'll dangle you off something high. [He will, too.] ..It's still strange that there's a word for being attracted to both.

[There is more she could explain about her time with Jack. How it would have been all UST if it had been up to them without any warden manipulations, but she doesn't want to worry him like that right now especially when she's happy and not feeling any more scarred by that life than from back home.]

Well, I don't think I want to compare notes if it's going to get me dangled.

Why so weird that there's a word for it, Kurt? Dictionary is full of words.
