"P A system"? [the fek is that] You mean the communicator? No, I'm not using it. I'm a seraph- most people aren't able to see or hear us. There's three currently living on the Huntress.
This was what people were talking about when it came to 'invisible people' on the Huntress.]
Oohh... So, that's what that meant.
Three of you, huh?
[Well, he supposed there could be weirder things. He'd seen (heard?) a few recently even back home, so he was just going to... you know... deal with it.]
So, um... You said, "yet". Does that mean I'll eventually see you? Or, is that something you have to allow? How does that work?
It depends on the person, usually. For some it's natural and can only take days or weeks... people with strong connections to magic or are particularly spiritual develop resonance quickly, as well. Some people never develop any.
Since you can already hear me, I'd give it a few months at most. Sorey being conscious will help.
It's really kind of weird to be talking to voice with no body. [Sorry.] I hope it's sooner than later.
[Though, the description made him wonder a bit. Could Shiro hear them, too? He wasn't sure. But he was fairly certain that Allura would probably be able to... and maybe even see them. Still, the person had seemed surprised he could hear him, so he wondered what that said about himself, and if it was related to him being able to sense the Blue Lion's energy back on Earth that time. As far as he knew, he was the only one that had been able to do that with more than one Lion.
Was it because...? He pulled his thoughts back to the present.]
So, what happens if someone can't see or hear you? Do they just think the ship's haunted?
Sometimes. Depends on how long the people are on the ship.
[Around here it's pretty typical to have a turnover rate; sometimes they transfer, sometimes they leave. It's just the way it is.]
Most of the crew have resonance to some degree, either through exposure or just naturally. It's not an issue for the most part. Though I suspect the occasional visitor find the place a bit eerie.
[Keith wondered why he could hear this person on first meeting, though his thoughts were maybe it was the same reason he'd been able to 'feel' the Blue Lion or get the Black Lion to work with him to save Shiro. That was still something he was a little weirded out over in retrospect, but he hadn't thought about it at the time it happened.
That being said, he was a little curious if Shiro would be able to hear this person. He supposed maybe this 'resonance' thing was a bit like quintessence, and his exposure to using it through the Lions helped him pick up on it better.]
Well, I guess it's better that I can actually hear you than just... not knowing you're there at all, right?
More or less. There are some administrative duties along with the role, but it's not as if I give out daily orders or anything. So long as we all do our jobs enough to keep the ship working and the crew alive, I won't tell anyone what to do.
The ships all seem to stick together pretty well on their own, too, so I guess it's not a huge deal unless we get attacked.
Is that a thing? Getting attacked?
[Keith was used to the idea of being a target as there was a giant evil alien empire kind of trying to wipe him and his team out of the universe back home, so getting attacked was kind of a daily worry for him.]
Technically yes, but it's far from frequent. I've been here for more than a year now and it's only happened once. There are some skirmishes on the planets, but that's largely dependent on how you interact with the natives.
[Keith looked mildly relieved at that. So, he apparently did have anyone else attempting to get his attention without him being able to see or hear them. That could have been awkward.]
Are there any others like you in the Fleet?
Just so I'm not freaked out by suddenly hearing voices around me.
Okay. So, if I hear other voices, I know I'm not just going crazy or something.
[Keith managed a weak smile at the thought. This was pretty much as weird as things could get in his book so far. He was beginning to wonder if things would just get weirder. Every time he hit a new level of weird, there seemed to be just another one above it.]
[He wouldn't have expected anyone he barely knew to vouch for his sanity, and, with everything that had happened back home, let alone here, he was surprised he was still basically in one piece. But, still...]
Thanks.
Who knows? Maybe I'll be able to see you soon, too.
Going by experience, that's very likely. I have yet to see someone's resonance entirely stagnate at the first stage, though I've seen it take up to a year to start. It tends to be all or nothing around here.

Okay, I've heard weird stuff about this ship, but really? You're not just pulling my leg or something and talking to me over a PA system?
[He had a very low tolerance for being messed around with.]

Wait. You're the captain, and people can't see you?
Doesn't that make things awkward?

Well, that's good at least. It would be weird if I couldn't hear you, though.
[He frowned a little.]
So, uh... it seems pretty casual around here. I'm guessing there isn't any real military structure to stuff? It's just... sort of a thing?

[Except Sorey maybe. He's a special case.]

If you have any questions or issues let me know. And if you have trouble finding me on account of the resonance issue, Sorey can help.

[Like... coma-asleep... or something...
Wait...]
Did I just not hear you when I arrived? Or is this our first time interacting?
[Because... now he was curious.]

Well, nice to... well, meet you, I guess. At least, hear you.
