[Being warm and comfortable is nice for half a second, but Edna has never needed to sleep in her life. Sure, resting is great and all, especially after a long and hard fight, but still not necessary. And waking up has never been difficult for her. Until now.

She rolls over and stretches, a booted foot sticking out of the blankets as her gloved hand covers a yawn that would put a man five times her size to shame. One blue eye cracks open before the other and she slowly rotates her head over.

And sees a black sky sprinkled with stars. Too many stars. That's when she sits up and looks around, frowning as she sees the sterile metal....things everywhere.]

Where's my mountain?

[Her hands pat around her, looking for her umbrella, and come up empty. Her voice and face definitely let anyone who can see her over the comm know that she is Not Happy. Sadly all that comes through is her voice, and the movements she makes on the bed. So, beware of ghosts.]

Alright, Meebo, you can give my umbrella back. You have five seconds.

[For those with high spiritual resonance, they will see a tiny girl who is stomping around the Marsiva, looking as if she can murder anything or one who gets in her way. Her footsteps are much heavier than someone of her size should be able to generate, but that's not stopping her.]

[She sees the stupid communicator and looks at it closely. Mikleo's voice is coming from it, but the screen just shows her some other weird metal room.]

They call it a communicator- people here use it to talk to each over great distances. Don't ask me how it works, I just know that it does.

[He doesn't have the engineering augment, and even Sorey doesn't know the mechanics of it. RIP.]

A group called Atroma pulled us off our world and put us here. If you want to point a finger at who took your umbrella, I'd start there.

[She frowns and it shows in her voice.]

[And she doesn't really feel the weakness she would if she was without her pure vessel, so it wasn't a huge surprised to have Mikleo say Sorey was there.]

Sorey, Zaveid and I are here. Lailah was around for a while, but they must have decided to send her back for whatever reason.

And... Dezel's here, too.

[He could technically mention Eizen, but he's not sure if that's the right punch to throw at her. Explaining Dezel is probably hard enough- not that he has an explanation for it. He's hoping that she and Eizen can work things out for themselves.

You mean Lailah was too weird for them? I'm not sure that I trust their judgment in that.

[Honestly, Lailah is almost normal compared to some of them.

But that name... makes her stop. She's not the type to cry unless it's really hard to keep it from spilling out. But even she was sad to see the cranky, obsessed Wind Seraph die. Especially since he'd saved Rose in the process.

And Edna might like Rose. Maybe.]

[Mikleo can't blame her surprise; he'd had a double-take and his own mixed feelings over seeing Dezel again after seeing him die. He can't imagine it being any easier for Edna. Even if she feigns not caring, even if she denies it, he knows she does.]

I don't know. Even Dezel doesn't know. All we can say for sure is that they can revive those who have died.

[She's not sure that she can even wrap her brain around it all. It's impossible. The dead stay dead. Unless they're ghosts or come back as Seraph. There are two fates for Seraph: dragons or death.

You... [Deep breath she doesn't need because he sounds too much like he knows what he's talking about.] You've seen it then? The dead coming back?

[The pause on his end is uncomfortable, but he's careful not to let it go too long, forcing himself to speak up. He doesn't want to give her reason to doubt or get suspicious of him. His true thoughts on the matter aren't suitable for the conversation he's prepared to have right now.]

I wouldn't lie about that kind of thing. Least of all to you.

[They bicker all the time, and they might never get along, but it isn't like he hates her. He's not cruel enough to play that sort of trick.]

[ As opposed to their normal conversations, Edna is quiet for long, hard seconds as she tries to process it all at once. She might tease and poke and prod Mikleo, but it's because he's young and a little idealistic. And she's old and cynical. They're sort of opposites in that way.

But she trusts him a great deal. She knows what kind of person he is. ]

No need to tiptoe around my feelings. I'm not going to suddenly start crying for no reason.

[She's really not much of a crier at all, honestly.]

Fine, so I'm stuck on this metal thing until when? I don't like it.

[Yeah, he's sort of only ever seen her cry because of Eizen, and considering Eizen is actually here right now, he doesn't want to give her more of a reason to get upset. Details now, bombshells later. unless of course Eizen just goes and does it himself, which is. fine.]

Going by how it usually works, you'll be sent to a different ship probably by the end of the week. You'll know when it happens. After that, we'll be able to meet up.

[ In the grand scheme of things, it's probably better to let Eizen incur her wrath on his own. Mikleo is still pretty much at the bottom of her shit list. Especially since his and Sorey's thirst for knowledge isn't always concerned with ruins.]

You might have a hard time with that. We've only gotten opportunities to get something from home every six months or so, and we don't necessarily get to pick what it'll be. Better to commission someone to make you a new one or something. There's a few craftsmen in the fleet.

Would any old staff just replace the one you got from Muse?

[Yeah, low blow is right. He may not have truly known Muse, but he's still very fresh from too much loss to take that in stride. He's quiet for a long moment, uncomfortable. When he speaks again, his voice is quiet.

He knows she's just lashing out because that's what she does, but still.]

I never said you had to be satisfied with a replacement. I'm only warning you about the reality of our situation.

They're friends and traveling companions. She might not be nice, but she's generally been a good person. And now...

he's honestly too surprised to be all that upset anymore. He's seen her do it before, but he's assumed for a while now that he falls outside of her standard "treat these people as people not wrath targets" behaviour.

Now he's just embarrassed.]

I... it's fine, forget it. More importantly, there's a few things you need to know about this place before you get assigned to a ship. I don't want it to be a surprise.
