[ Two whole days later, Iris still can't believe she's actually in outer space. The view outside the Marsiva hasn't done anything to dissuade the notion, either. Part of her desperately wishes she could disembark and explore this star system: it would be the story of a lifetime, and more importantly, it would be a story she would've uncovered all by herself.
Exploring the hospitality deck hasn't answered many questions, so she's taken to sitting in the cafeteria with a trusty mug of coffee. Turns out, it's a good place to sit and think - as well as a good place to scroll through the Network and see what other people're saying.
So far, she's drawn a few conclusions: 1) there's a whole fleet of ships surrounding the Marsiva, 2) not everyone's from Earth - or a planet like it, and 3) they're here as part of a reality show?? That last one's pretty hard to believe. (Who'd watch someone write and edit?) Instead of asking her fellow captives the hows and whys, she figures she's better off asking them something else: ]
How many of you know the game 'Questions?'
It's a pretty simple game back on Earth: I pose a question, and you can only answer me with a question of your own. The first one to forget a question "loses." To make things easier on everyone, I won't instate any additional rules.

Not at all. Still can't believe they'd kidnap a reporter, let alone someone with no experience. But that's half the point of reality TV, isn't it?
[ Wrangle a bunch of people in one place, turn on the cameras, and watch the sparks fly. Iris has seen enough crappy TV to know how the story goes - and the cafeteria's even stocked up with enough alcohol to make it plausible. ]

If your world has the same states (and hopefully cities!), I work for a newspaper called the Central City Tribune. Mostly real estate and metahuman beats. What paper did your friend work for?

[ She'll lose this round, but she doesn't care because she hadn't expected his name to pop up. Honestly, she didn't know what she had expected. Some distant, almost intangible connection based off other famous reporters? Like the guys that had once worked for the Boston Globe?
Iris pulls on the feed and peers at the camera, pressing her lips together - ]
Okay, I know I was playing a dumb word game because I got bored, but - how did you meet Cisco?

We met here, he's one of my best friends. My name's Winn Schott, I'm basically my Earth's version of Cisco. You're Iris, right?

And we're uh, [ clearing his throat, meaningful look. he is...the best at this subtlety thing!!! ] very honest with each other. [ not outing barry on intergalactic television (though they've mentioned his name before so that might be a lost cause...not outing him on an open network in case a villain shows up and digs through it?), so catch his drift!! ]

But I was thinking more, I know nothing about science, or science fiction, so I'm gonna be a little behind the bell curve.

I've got time, so I figure I should catch up on whatever I need to know, but it's all so... scattered. [ She scrunches up her face. While it's a worthy challenge, it's also one Iris did not signed up for. ] As far as social media goes, this Network's pretty different.

Yeah, we were talking about making SpaceBook, but who has the time, honestly? Or the augment, computers are my jam back home, but here I don't have a communications augment so everything takes forever. [ he's actually more his world's version of felicity but no one ever mentioned her to him. for shame. ]

Aliens exist, we once had talking ponies, and now we have a poor French guy who's stuck in the form of a candle? [ . . . ] It almost sounds like a fairy tale.
[ One with outer space and reality TV as the backdrop, but a fairy tale nevertheless. ]
I can only imagine. I don't know what your augment is, but it sounds like they aren't usually that helpful.

Pretty much, except that all of us - even the extremely powerful - are the person in distress. [ he nods, yup. his princess charming is here too, what happens in a fairytale when the prince and princess are both kidnapped and held in the dungeon together? ]
Well, I got my second choice, you know - if we actually got a choice. Actually, third, my first choice would definitely be augment free but, you know - I'm an engineer.

It sounds kind of related? I used to write a blog, so I know HTML and CCS and all that fun stuff - but I couldn't build a computer to save my own life. [ . . . ] But I think I know how to work the ship's communicators?
That's an augment of its own, right? Communications or something?

Yup, that's the one I should've had - I'll build all anything you need, or, well, whichever ones Cisco's too busy to build - [ he's sure she'll go to him first because - home friend, why wouldn't she. also cisco has always been an engineer, so he's better at it. ] so, don't worry about it.
