What was this?

Kairi blinked before sitting up on her bunk, rubbing her hands over her arms. She felt cold, even though the air wasn't especially chilly. But something was missing, and it only took Kairi a moment to notice that she was alone, at least from what she could see. No voices or anything, just the distant hum of machines.]

Hello? Is anyone there?

[When no one answered, she brought her knees up to her chin and wrapped her arms around her legs. As much as she didn't want to admit it, Kairi was a little scared. Yen Sid hadn't even told her anything; the last thing she remembered was just arriving there and being greeted. Surely he would have given her some kind of instruction before sending her off on her training? She had hoped Riku would be with her during her training, too. But he was nowhere to be found. Neither was Yen Sid, or the King, or anybody. She was completely alone.

Be brave! I can figure this out, she thought.

Taking a deep breath, she looked around, trying to see if there was anything around that could help. That's when she spotted the communicator off to the side.]

What's this? A phone?

[It... sort of looked like one. As she picked it up, she wondered if there was some way to call someone and ask for help. If it was a phone, then she should be able to, right? Because she had never handled any kind of tech quite like this, she had no idea it was recording the whole time. While she randomly pressed at buttons and tried to figure out the communicator, she then realized that it was already doing something. Specifically, sending a call (or so she guessed).]

Hello? Can someone hear me? Please, if you can tell me what's going on, where I am... I'm not where I'm supposed to be, and I really need to go back. It's really important.

[A moment. Thinking she's on a regular phone, when she doesn't hear someone respond, Kairi's expression became crestfallen.]

Please.

[She sighed, trying hard to keep her spirits up as she pressed a few more buttons. Unintentionally, she ended the broadcast there.]

Yeah, it's a little weird. [He's not even going to try and explain the part where he didn't even remember that much until yesterday when he mysteriously disappeared for a few hours. Space is weird.

[He waves a hand dismissively.]

What're you sorry for? You didn't do anything wrong. I was the one who was gonna apologize to you, I just got kinda tied up, is all. Didn't Sora pass the message along? I told him to. If he didn't, I'm gonna beat him up.

[He shakes his head then.]

No, Riku was here when I arrived. I've been here about three months? I'm actually not sure how long he's been here, but it's longer than me.

Yeah, it's pretty weird. Time travel just kind of makes my head spin, so I'm not even gonna try and make sense of it. We're all here now, so I think it matters less where we were before. Or... when we were before.

An-anyway... I've sworn off kidnapping, okay? So you don't have to worry about that sort of thing anymore. I'd rather be allies, like Riku says.

[She wants to mention the upcoming war, and how important it was that they should be there for that, but she decides not to. He was right; they were there now, and according to Riku, there was nothing they could do about it.]

Oh, I wasn't really worried. I didn't think you'd do it again. I think it'd be hard to do that in this set up, anyway.

[He laughs. She's so cavalier about it!]

Probably. Besides, I don't think the audience would like me too much if I did something like that. Gotta keep the viewers happy--who knows what they might do otherwise? I sure don't wanna wind up left behind on a planet or something.

[Riku mentioned something about the captors watching, but nothing about an audience...]

That's what we're told. "The worlds are watching!", or so they say. [He shrugs.] I just see it as an opportunity to mug for the cameras. Wherever they are. Who doesn't like a good trickster, am I right?

Mm, not particularly. There wasn't really any privacy in the Organization, a locked door didn't really do any good, and it wasn't hard to listen in on other peoples' conversations using corridors, so I'm kind of used to it. At least here the audience won't kill me for what I say, you know?

[He gives a weak sort of laugh, then makes a bit of a face.]

Sorry, I guess that's kinda morbid, but it's the truth.

[She could picture it. Even from what little she saw of the place, she could tell. Saix always seemed around the corner, and who knows who else was watching from the shadows.

Still, Kairi grimaced at Axel's joke. As true as it might be, it still stung.]

No, it's all right. Well, as okay as it can be. I guess... you're right. It could be worse.

[Good to know they won't get actively murdered by the audience.]

So it's all a TV show. How long do we have to be here?

[Well. He presumes they won't get actively murdered by the audience. Fenris got away with murder--literally--and the audience didn't vote him off the island, as it were, so Axel had to think that wasn't within the scope of their ability. Atroma, however... Atroma had brought them here, so Atroma could send them away, and who knew if they would get sent home or sent to some sort of... limbo? Ugh, he really didn't want to think about it.]

I'm not sure how long, honestly. I mean a TV show is finite, right? So... it can't be too long.

Yeah, that's a good point! It can't last forever. People would get bored. So they'll send us back eventually, right?

You'll be on Marsiva 'til you get assigned to one of the smaller ships, but it shouldn't be too much longer. Once you're assigned to a ship, you can transfer if you want, so wherever you wind up, you could move to the ship Riku and Sora are on, if you wanted. Sora started out on my ship and moved to Riku's, so... you won't have to be separated.

[He understands, he really does. It was really great having Roxas around, it made the ship feel a lot more comfortable. Home isn't where you are, after all, it's who you're there with.]
