[ another month; another mingle. but there are changes in the air! the starstruck has some fresh crew to boast of, as well as a spiffing new lounge. things have been difficult, lately -- the common area might make for a great place to decompress and socialize with your fellow starstruckers.

after all, it seems the captain's gone and requisitioned max's record player. for the first week in june, it'll be returned again and again to the new lounge. good luck hiding it from her, rockatanksy.

[ As a swordsman, Rokurou's built up a set of habits and rituals meant to keep his skills, and his weaponry polished and ready. And being out in space, stripped of the weapons he'd grown so familiar with carrying, was hardly enough of a reason to stop those rituals he'd spent years developing. All he needed to do was use a few... alternatives until he had enough money to pick up some blades. ]

[ Which is why anyone passing by the cargo hold will find Rokurou with an assortment of pipes that 'fell' off random places in the ship, considering the weight of each one and testing them out for his sword-swinging training sessions. ]

None of these have quite the right amount of heft to them...

peggy finds him in the cargo hold. she hasn't had much opportunity to properly introduce herself to the new fellow, as things have been a bit bonkers since the heist and its attendant failures. but she's keen to rectify that now -- to upgrade from stiff nods in the ship hallways to a proper conversation.

[ And from Rokurou casual posture and smile, he clearly doesn't see anything wrong with picking random parts off the ship for his own use. Especially ones that'll come off with a light tug. To be fair, by daemon standards 'light' held a pretty different meaning than it did for humans... ]

[ a huff of dismay. or maybe disapproval. ]

And when you found them, pray tell, were they still attached to something?

Yeah, barely. I'm not too sure I'll be able to put back the ones I don't need without melding them back on.

[ Not that he really knows how to do that, but he at least knows a bit from being friends with a blacksmith. ]

-- Rangetsu, is it? [ she can only go by the ship's roster as it changes. peggy doesn't always get foreign names right. but she tries. ] Tell me. How much experience have you had with space travel? Because unless it's been rather a lot, I'd appreciate if you didn't go pulling pieces off the ship.

[ And for having been caught essentially taking apart the ship, Rokurou doesn't appear to be very apologetic. ]

I've never been in space, to tell you the truth. But if these are pieces that need to be attached, we really gotta make sure they're attached better.

[ There's an itch of 'maybe you should shut up Rokurou' starting to build up, but it's a very small feeling. ]

I take it you're planning to do just that, then? [ a beat. ] Attach them better?

[ she'll rope him into it, if she must. or at least she'll try. ]

[Velvet's decided to pay Rokurou a visit and she's not surprised that this is what she finds him doing. Though, she is maybe a little surprised by the tools he's chosen.]

Yeah. That's probably because they're pipes.

[A beat.]

Have you been taking apart your ship?

But until I get my swords back, I need something to use during my training sessions.

[ He only looks a little surprised to see Velvet on the ship, if only because he hadn't known how easy it was to travel between ships. ]

And hey- I just found these. Nothing blew up when I took them.

["Nothing blew up when I took them." Rokurou, please. Why are you like this.

She sighs.]

That's good. I don't know how well a daemon could survive a space ship exploding or the abyss of space.

Well... we're pretty sturdy, aren't we? We could probably manage.

[ The words of a man who still has no concept or experience with what space really is. ]

[Well, it is true that they're sturdy, she can't argue that. And hell, maybe they could survive. But would the want to?]

You really want to find out? I bet it's hard to fight people when you're floating aimlessly in space.

[The heist wasn't as helpful as she was hoping it'd be but she did get some loot out of it, at least.]

Aww, thanks for the offer Velvet, but if all I need is money to get my hands on swords, then I can manage that myself.

[She huffs, a little amused. It wasn't so bad, having his loyalty.]

It wouldn't really be the same, would it? Space credits don't hold the same weight as Stormhowl.

[ Rokurou seems willfully oblivious to any internal suffering he's apparently caused Steve. ]

I wasn't planning on wielding them as actual weapons, even I'm not that desperate. I just needed something to do my daily training with.

[ He gives a glance at the small pile of discarded pipes at his side in mild disappointment. ]

I figured I'd put back the ones that wouldn't work. Which is starting to look like all of them...

[ he picks them all up as if they were no more than boxes of tissue paper. honestly, he's used to cleaning up after max sometimes but this is new. he pauses for a moment and, ]

What do you usually train with?

[ ... Huh, that's interesting. He'd get the ease of carrying all those pipes if the guy were a daemon, but as far as Rokurou can tell he's human... ]

My swords. Sometimes a wooden one too.

We don't have any swords.

[ steve wouldn't know what to do with one and he suspects the others are more partial to guns, anyway. ]

-- I might have something but it was a birthday gift. You'd have to be careful with it.

[ he was saving it for the day mon-el really pisses him off but oh well. ]
