everybody's starstruck in june.
Who: starstruck crew & visitors
Broadcast: n/a
Action: aboard the ship
When: june
[ another month; another mingle. but there are changes in the air! the starstruck has some fresh crew to boast of, as well as a spiffing new lounge. things have been difficult, lately -- the common area might make for a great place to decompress and socialize with your fellow starstruckers.
after all, it seems the captain's gone and requisitioned max's record player. for the first week in june, it'll be returned again and again to the new lounge. good luck hiding it from her, rockatanksy.
ready steady go! ]

Is it powdery? Damn. [He'd assume as much, if a lack of stirring in the problem.] Sorry. Do you want to wait for another attempt?
[In truth the thought of wasted food doesn't settle well with him; it never has. But he certainly won't force the poor girl to endure it his efforts have led to results that bad.
Especially not when he can do better.]

[She scoots off her chair and goes to the fridge, pulling out a little bottle full of red syrup, which she subsequently pours over the pancakes.]
Tastes better like this. It's not as good as real fruit, but it does the job!

But as said, it seems to do the job well enough, at least for her.]
I suppose I'll keep that in mind. [But given that even he isn't heartless, he'll keep whatever cynicism he has about the fake food to himself for the time being. Let the poor girl eat in peace.]
I'm Rip, by the way. Rip Hunter.

[She doesn't seem to mind his company at all.]

Good to meet you too. [He nods a bit in response to the warm greeting; if nothing else, she certainly seems to be a cheerful girl.]
My role on the ship being rather, ah, evident--[He's in the kitchen attempting to cook for everyone, after all.]--would you mind me asking what yours is? I'm still getting the lay of the land, as it were.
[Including who is at least meant to play which part, whether they choose to or not.]

But the girl speaks of it with good cheer; enough, even, to warrant a slight grin from Rip as she warns him about her little helpers.]
Let the robots do their thing—got it. [He even goes so far as to give a mock salute of sorts with the spatula, tipping it in her direction.] Is there a great deal involved in the general upkeep of the ship?
[It's an answer Rip already knows in part; he did, after all, keep command of a timeship for well over a decade. But he's curious how that might apply to the Starstruck; all the glitz of the controls and décor aside, he's really got no idea how old the vessel is, or what it's general maintenance requires.]

The Starstruck is an entirely separate thing, of course. While Rip's been focusing on teaching himself some of the more complicated systems, engineering and piloting, the smaller ones might equally have their own issues.] Backed-up sinks and uncooperative ovens, I mean.

[/THE MOST HELPFUL ANSWER!!]
Don't worry, though. Usually the fixes are pretty quick and easy, so it doesn't end up being that much of a problem.

[Although Rip has discovered his tolerance for all things annoying to be a bit thinner than usual. Still. Ochako's youth and personality both might keep some of that in check.
Maybe.]
Then what do you end up doing with the rest of your time? If you don't mind me asking. [While Rip's own schedule is rather full at the moment, from lessons in cooking to self-led study of ship systems, he's aware it likely won't be that way forever. Moreover, moving about a ship on one's own is quite different from being surrounded by others. He's hardly alone on this vessel; Rip equally has to learn how to cohabitate with the others, right along with piloting and food preparation.]

As for actual ideas, um... well, I did some training. I'm learning how to fight back home, and practice is important! It's good to pick a hobby, or keep up whatever you did back home... there's another ship, the Iskaulit, with a few places to hang out and do some fun stuff! There's bars, a library, a garden, oh, and an art club!
