[Early in the evening, a teenage girl's supremely pissed-off face appears in the sightline of the camera, close enough to screw with the focus. She's got a red-lipsticked scowl, and an expression that says she's just damn tired of this.]

I swear the next "Welcome to purgatory, you're in for life, enjoy your stay" spiel I hear? Someone's getting a kick in the gut. All I want's a taco and the first flight back to New York. Otherwise, don't even bother.

[You can find her on the Hospitality Deck for some time afterwards, looking about as pleased as a wet cat. She's twirling around a wand in one hand, shuffling her brain for any kind of spell that could get her out of here. But none of the likely contenders are working, and as spell after spell fizzles and dies, her muttering is getting louder and more angry.]

[Ah, was that magic? She took a step back when the sparks flew, just as a precaution against getting hit by one. Now that she was thinking about it, it reminded her of Donald's staff. Not quite as... decorative, but it seemed to do the same thing.]

Oh, so it's like a small staff that you cast magic from? Are you a wizard then? Or, I guess it'd be a witch?

Yeah, except we still say wizard for girls. Witches are shriveled old ladies with warts and crows and stuff.

Oh, I'm sorry! I've never met a witch before, so I just assumed that's what girls who use magic are called. I wasn't trying to imply you had warts!

Or maybe you have, and just don't know it. We're pretty secretive.

Really? I've met a wizard before and he didn't do much to hide it.

[Then again, Donald wasn't secretive about much. That and he was a duck, so...]

Yeah? Must not be from Earth, then. At least, not my version of it.

I've never heard of Earth, no. But I haven't gotten to go to many worlds, so maybe one of my friends have.

[A pause.]

Oh, I didn't even introduce myself! I'm Kairi.

[delincuente]

[She gives a lazy little salute in response.]

Nice to meet you, Alex, even under the weird circumstances. Have you sent a message on your phone? There might be people from your world here.

Not yet. I mean, it's been like three years since I saw anyone from my world. It's not really my first thought.

[destinyembrace]

Three years? [Had her world been destroyed, like so many had been over a year ago? Or had she left of her own accord?] That's so long to be away from home.

Yeah. You kinda get used to it, though. This isn't my first rodeo in a stupid pocket universe that won't let you off the leash.
