[Her drink arrives and she studies it for a long, long while before taking a moment to eye Crowley. She takes a careful sip and it's really not that bad at all. Sort of buzzy and pretty much like you'd think the colour purple would taste. Tangy on the aftertaste but not at all too sweet.
Crowley gets another look and she shrugs, moving herself and her drink to his table. She settles into the chair and takes another sip.]
Not bad at all. You've good taste.

[He flashes her a sharp-toothed grin. ]
A fact of which I was already very aware, but I'll never turn down a compliment.
no subject
Compliments just mean you're not boring, so it's probably a good thing you don't turn them down.

[That very few people get, it's a tragedy. ]
I already know I'm not boring. That's an impossibility for me.
TL;DR - Achievement Unlocked: My Life Is Books & Science
[She settles into lecture mode easily, her voice animated just the right amount to keep her words interesting, her gestures fluid as she speaks.]
The etymology of malum, masculine, first-person singular, has two meanings, bad or evil, and apple, fruit, or apple tree. Depending on how it's spelt, you have one or the other. If it's with the long a, you have apple, of course.
Your in-joke [she gestures with her glass], I believe, revolves around the Judeo-Christian Bible passage about the fruit of the tree of knowledge and how Adam and Eve partook of it on the advice of the serpent, etc, etc.
In addition, 'bad fruit' is also a pun on the fact that fermented fruit and grain becomes alcohol.
Thus, we have en total, the name of your bar.
[Merlan sits back in her chair, swirling her drink thoughtfully. It's a thorough, fairly accurate, linguistic and literary assessment.]
and then Crowley ruins it
Very well done. Very thorough. Of course, the main reason I picked it was because I'm actually the aforementioned Serpent, but you get points for effort on that one.
Tch.
[Her eyebrows arch.]
That's not something I hear every day. [Demon then but like Sam said, she's not here to be a Hunter and he's not hurting anything by existing.] Oh, well, at least I get points, I hear those are important depending on the kind of points they are. I suppose everything about my time here will be strange. Dining with a demon isn't usually on my to-do list but I suppose there's a time and place for everything.

That's the thing with places like this. New experiences, and whatnot. Name's Crowley, it's a pleasure.

[He sounds almost disgruntled about that. There's no fun in misery, after all. ]
