[ Aerith laughs and beams, starting to urge Cloud to spin. ]

When you open your eyes that's what we'll play.

Luck won't save you, y'know. [But he plays along anyway, letting her spin him before stopping abruptly and opening his eyes to see-]

[ And Aerith just bursts out laughing at him. ]

[ Aerith shakes her head and moves, aiming to throw -- and she misses, but only just, rolling off the edge of the hoop. ]

That was pretty close. [Not in, but honestly, it's closer than he ever gets. Look at this-

Cloud takes up the next ball, aims and- smacks it right into the backboard, where it rebounds into the side netting. He stares down at his hands. WHAT IS HE DOING WRONG.]

[ It's so easy to laugh - and she's been laughing so much she thinks her stomach must be in tangles. ]

You're throwing it way too hard!

[moseyin]

If I don't throw it that hard it doesn't make it to the hoop! Here, [grabs the ball and hands it to her] Show me how, walk me through it.

[ She just shakes her head, nudging him out the way and taking aim again. ]

You don't need to throw it as hard as you do, Cloud. Just watch - [ And she aims, throws and, okay, it hoops again, but at least it's not slamming into the back board. ]

[scowls and throws it so gently it doesn't even reach the hoop

[ Obviously there is only one solution here! Grabbing the ball, Aerith picks it up and puts it into Cloud's hands before she goes and stands behind him, her hands on his so she can help him with his throw. ]

[ This is a callout post for Cloud Strife - stop being so dumb!!! Aerith leans around, peering up at him. ]

[ At least it'll get him to actually focus and not throw the ball like it's some kind of grenade or something. Aerith shifts, moving to help aim, and then - with Cloud's hands under her own - she helps him throw it, too, and together they get the basketball in the hoop. ]

[Huh, would you look at that... He didn't actually expect that to work but it didn't even touch the hoop at all. Cloud blinks at the buzzer ringing in the basket, then reaches for the ball again.] Wait, so...like this? More up than over?

Mhm! You need to aim it just above, okay, and then throw it just as hard as we did just then.

[ And, look, she stands back to let him go at it himself. ]

[And because Cloud still has trouble grasping that he can be good at something he was once bad at, he's still kind of shocked when it bounces on the edge but still makes it through the net.] It went in! What!
