I think I read practically every book in my school library.

[ All the more reason she would be besties with Lumiere's friend, she thinks. ]

But there are so many people - and you'd never get to talk to them all! It's completely exhausting sometimes. I'd much rather have a cup of tea and a good book.

You have a voracious appetite with books, then.

[Belle would love her. So much. ]

Cogsworth would probably agree with you. But me? This is what I live for.

[He's missed it. So much. Just living. ]
brainiest: (that's the one)

[personal profile] brainiest 2017-08-12 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Something like that. I just want to know everything I can about... Everything.

[ Which sounds impossible, but it means she gets to read and learn constantly. ]

... Cogsworth? Is he a friend of yours - someone from home?
servantnotserving: (I'ma be smug about this)

[personal profile] servantnotserving 2017-08-12 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
That is admirable. Having a voracious appetite for knowledge.

[Seriously, she and Belle would lock themselves in the library and no one would see them ever again. ]

Oui. He is the head of of the household- important job. [His tone is a little dismissive, clearly Lumière doesn't think it's that important. ] He is on the Fleet, currently- a mantel clock. You cannot miss him.
brainiest: (thanks bro)

At least someone agrees with me.

[ A woman not used to her friends understanding her love of books. ]

It sounds very important. [ And she is doing her best to be serious! ] Oh, so - he's cursed too? Have you come any closer to finding a cure?

I am sure many people would, mon trésor.

[Not so much him, but hey, he'll love and support you anyway. ]

He is. And we have come close. Khagdar seems to think he may be able to brew a potion. [And here, he gives a little frown. ] Unfortunately, he might need to test it, and I would rather not risk us- um ceasing.

[He can't really call it 'dying', they're not strictly alive. What can happen feels much worse. ]

brainiest: please don't take! (he harry you idiot face)

[personal profile] brainiest 2017-08-13 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
That's the good thing about the fleet, I suppose. There are more people that agree than don't.

[ Still, the offer of a potion makes her frown and she turns her attention back to him, suddenly far more serious. ]

Then you're not going to test it, obviously. That's not how it works - you don't just... Test on people with a risk of death. There's no coming back from that, right?
servantnotserving: (I keep telling you to listen to me)

Perhaps that is Atroma's doing. Finding minds that think alike.

[He looks considerably happier that this is her reaction. Relieved, almost. ]

Thank you. Cosgworth was all for just running headlong into being a test subject for him. It took a lot of convincing to sway him from that. I want this curse lifted more than anything, but it is not worth risking our lives for.
brainiest: (i'll tell dad on you)

[ Thankfully, Hermione has never been a big fan of trial without test - she went to school to learn for a reason, even if she had been a little more lax in her older age. ]

No. There's no point knowing that you can free yourself from the curse if you have to die to do it. What's the point of that? There has to be another way.
servantnotserving: (But you never do)

That is what I said. He was convinced he needed to lay down his life for the cause. [A fact Lumière is still distinctly unhappy about- it's there in his tone. ] But unlike back home, we have time here. We can make sure it is safe for everyone before we take any drastic steps.

[Lumière is usually all for barrelling headlong into anything without thinking for a second. But not for this. This time, they need to use their heads. ]

Well, we're not going to let that happen, are we? [ Hermione scoffs quietly. ] We'll figure out a way to help the both of you without risking your lives. I promise.

No, we are absolutely not. [He knew he liked you, Hermione. You use your head. He offers a smile. ] Merci becoup. I would rather him try anything so stupid again.

I'll keep working on it. [ It seems even more vital now, she thinks. ] I wish I could talk to whoever did this to you...
servantnotserving: (Be good looking again)

[personal profile] servantnotserving 2017-08-17 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
[That gets a laugh out of him. ]

Most of us would wish that, ma cherie. I know I have some select words for her.

I'll keep seeing what I can work out. It's hard without books to reference, but... I'll do my best.
servantnotserving: (I told you she likes me best)

All your efforts are deeply appreciated all the same. Your best is just wonderful, no matter what comes of it.

[He loves you guys for even trying, okay. ]
