Well, you certainly could be. Half the fleet has odd jobs on this planet somewhere or another.

[He's clearly defensive and that's not an answer. He's just largely embarrassed that he didn't recognize her at first.]

You would not catch me dead working in a store like this, Felix.

[and now she's offended that he thinks she'd do mediocre work like this. Gosh Felix!!]
lord_wizard: (hand on hips)

[personal profile] lord_wizard 2017-08-26 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
And why not? I certainly catch you out in the proximity of nature often enough. There are plenty of worse ways to earn credits.

[He's not certain himself if he's lightly teasing her or if he's honestly baffled. Both, probably]

I would set someone on fire before the first day was done. I do not need to be arrested.

[at least she's self-aware when it comes to her short temper]
lord_wizard: (pretty)

[personal profile] lord_wizard 2017-08-29 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure arresting you wouldn't be an easy feat, if it came to that. But I suppose all parties can be thankful it won't come to that.

If credits don't bring you here, then, what does?
noprophecies: (069)

[personal profile] noprophecies 2017-08-30 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
It wouldn't, but yes, let's be thankful I'm aware enough to keep myself out of trouble.

[she shrugs a shoulder] Spending them rather than earning them. I needed a few supplies for my herbs.

[personal profile] lord_wizard 2017-09-03 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
In the very least I appreciate not having to post your bail.

What sorts of herbs are you cultivating?
noprophecies: (017)

[personal profile] noprophecies 2017-09-03 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[her lips twitch] I would not ask you to post my bail.

Some planet's version of lavender, mint, and another I do not know how to say the name. They looked interesting, so I bought some.

[She wouldn't ask, but if he knew about it he might help anyway. It'd be an excellent thing to tease her about down the line, in any case]

Purchasing plants require a little more effort than the usual impulse buy. Are you adding them to the gardens, or is this your own collection.

[personal profile] noprophecies 2017-09-05 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[she would be so offended if she broke her perfect record of never being arrested. So offended]

I have my own collection in my room, and a few in our ship's cargo hold. Not only are they useful, but they help to replenish my magic in between stops, albeit slowly.
lord_wizard: (aristocrat)

[personal profile] lord_wizard 2017-09-05 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Do they? How so? Do you eat them or use them in some sort of potion or something else?

[Sorry, he's now almost completely forgotten she was irritated with him two seconds ago]
noprophecies: (018)

[personal profile] noprophecies 2017-09-06 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
My main source of magic is drawn from nature. It is done . . . automatically? No potions or consuming necessary.

Though I do use the leaves for tea.
lord_wizard: (hand on hips)

[personal profile] lord_wizard 2017-09-06 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
A dual purpose is all the better. Especially since the tea on our ships tastes like old socks. [He makes a slight face at the thought.]

So it's more a matter of being in proximity? Do you get more from being in a forest that around houseplants or does it replenish at the same rate regardless?

Then you should check the cupboard to the right of the sink, because I buy the decent sort and store it in there. [she'd honestly thought someone would have come across it by now, but - the Goldstone is never without proper, mostly decent not-space tea]

Mmm, it is proximity, and it is quicker and more efficient from something like a forest. House plants or something like the garden on the other ship works, of course, but it is much slower.
lord_wizard: (aristocrat)

[personal profile] lord_wizard 2017-09-08 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. Someone on my last ship hoarded tea as well, but she was far more selective about sharing it. I didn't want to assume... [And Tempest, at least as far Felix knows, is far more intimidating than Peggy]

How slow? If you were to say, deplete your magic while in a city with little plant life around, how long would it take for you to be able to cast a simple spell?
noprophecies: (018)

[personal profile] noprophecies 2017-09-11 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't mind sharing it, the tea the ship makes is horrid shite water. [to put it bluntly] As long as you let me know when the supply runs low or help replace it, you are welcome to as much as you like.

[she's intimidating about a lot of things, but sharing tea is not one of them.

. . . unless of course you drink it all. His question does give her pause, though, and she frowns as she taps her chin thoughtfully]

Simple spells do not take much, and I do have another type of magic I am able to use. It could take anywhere from a few hours to a day, at least, were I in a proper city on a proper planet. But when we are in space it can take days.

I'll keep that in mind for next time. [Hopefully he won't forget but THINGS HAPPEN]

I assume this applies to the elven side of your magic?

[He's noticed that this is A Thing with elves, ok]
