His lips curve into a slight smile, turning the frog a little before putting it down and picking up the shell, holding it more securely this time in case it starts doing anything weird. "That they do."

He turns it over before holding it hesitantly to his ear, looking mildly impressed at the sound it produces. "Yeah, I'll definitely hold onto it. I can see in the dark, but it would be helpful if I needed to read something or look at something more closely."

Merlan nods and gestures at the shell.

"I thought it might help to take a little bit of the planet with you. I felt much better on that planet than up here. I guess I'm still getting used to it, you know? The frog, however, will gradually increase its light as long as you hold it with firm pressure." Merlan smiles with satisfaction. "It can be used as a distraction, that way. They had birds, bears, and all sorts of creatures, too, but the frog just seemed like it was more you at the time."

"I have to admit... having some dirt under my nails is something I never thought I'd miss." He puts the shell down after a moment. That's neat, but it also reminds him a little too much of a certain type of mushi. He appreciates the thought, but he won't probably listen to it much... it's beautiful, though. "I've never been in space before, never really thought about it. It does take some getting used to."

The statue is the last thing, and he picks it up curiously. It just seems to be a statue, but the other things look perfectly ordinary too--and he of all people knows better than to assume something is exactly what it appears to be. "Hmmm... frogs are nice."
