do these things come with barf bags?
Who: Ochako + OTA
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: Planetside
When: Nowish?
( video / broadcast; )
Ssssoooo... anybody I know have a license to fly those space cars? I want to learn how to drive one! But they said I have to be 18 to drive it alone, so I need an adult with me. I can get the autopilot versions, but, um. They kind of freak me out? ...Also they suck. They really, really suck.
[did I mention the video image shows the background around her looks like it's upside down? because it totally looks like it is.]
Anyway, let me know if you can help! It can't be that different from a shuttle, and I'm not bad with those! Thanks in advance.
( on the planet; )
[how much do the autopilot hovers suck? Ochako's gone and found out the hard way. she's rented one that is exceptionally glitchy- it really likes to fly upside down, which is why her broadcast looks so weird. This isn't such a terrible thing when your superpower is gravity-erasing, but she can only do that for so long before she loses her lunch, so over the course of the rental she might pass people by doing the following:
1) sitting in her seat, upside down, looking awfully green
2) dangling from her clipped seatbelt like it's a swing, legs kicking
3) carefully climbing down the seatbelt trying to reach the ground
She might need a little bit of help. That's if she doesn't straight-up collide with somebody first. Uh, duck?]
Ah- ahhhh, look out!!

Video.
...
D'you want some lessons? Been driving these since we got here; they're not too bad, compared to normal cars.
Video.
I'd love that! I really wanna know how to drive one of these things.
Video.
Good to know how.
Learned when... hm. I was seven or so.
Video.
[WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOUR PARENTS DOING, MAX]
Video.
Video.
Video.
Should get you taught as soon as possible, though.
Video.
Video.
If you need me somewhere, ahm. Just say.
[... Telling people he's available to help is weird.
He doesn't usually do this. Don't mind his uncertainty.]
Video.
Video.
[This is weird. But he'll play the normal card for five seconds to help a kid drive.]
Send me the coordinates, I'll be there.
Video.
[Have some coordinates I guess. They're probably accurate enough!]
Thanks, Max! This is a big help.
Video. => Action.
But regardless, this loser will be there, albeit tentatively, with some uncertainty.
Mostly, he doesn't want you to get him murdered driving, child. :|]

She's there soon after, the rented, auto-pilot car sliding sideways into the lot and flipping over only when it's reached the destination, sending her flying head over heels out the side door. She manages to catch herself in a roll, but she's still a little ruffled as she straightens up, rubbing her back.]
Owww... dumb car.
no subject
[Is he going to regret this? Maybe.
He stands outside of the car, stepping aside to watch her topple out. Such a kind man.]
Don't think a car can be dumb; it doesn't have a brain.
[har har]

Well this one sure is trying!
[she dusts herself off and faces him properly.]
Um... thanks for coming.
no subject
Can thank me if I manage to teach you anything. Not a great teacher.
But, uh. Know my way around cars.
[He looks to the car, at ease. Surprisingly so, considering his usual demeanor.]
You ready?
no subject
[She grins and pumps her fist, any irritation vanishing like magic. Can't bring this girl down!!]
I'm ready!
no subject
But okay. He gives a nod before setting into the passenger's seat.
......
He's never been a religious man, but maybe he should ask god for protection.]
Walk me through it, and I'll correct you.

max that's a terrible way to teach, you should definitely pray]
Oh... um... let's see...
[well, she... kind of was shown the ropes already, so...! she carefully goes through it, step by step, wishing she'd brought her notes. she keeps looking warily at max, though. HELP PLEASE]

Pull your seat back a little. Makes your body more comfortable, for your height.
Too close, too hard to navigate properly.

[what the hECK she was not aware. She leans down and pokes around, searching for- AH!! Suddenly she's half a foot back and everything is so much more comfortable to reach.]
Whoa! I didn't know it did that.
no subject
... Mmm. You don't want to be too close.
Bad if you get in an accident, because you're too close to the wheel and dash.
no subject
[She's read enough about heroic rescue operations to know how big a problem that can be.]

[He doesn't particularly mean to bring up his life before the fall of everything, but he does. Well, it's not a big deal, right? He told Peggy. Ochako's not a bad person, not someone to distrust with fragments of his history.]
Go ahead, get into air traffic from here safely.
