Ugh.

[ Kai’s been…out of it for a while, out of sight and mind in a coma. He’s showered and changed his clothing at least, gotten rid of the layer of dust, but he still looks like he hasn’t had a sufficient amount of coffee for the current day. ]

At least I don’t have any new memories or scars this time around.

Though I guess that means I’m a little short on stories.

[ Not really, since he’d been around for calibrations. Still those were hardly all pleasant, though some of them — like how he got his cat, Newt, were nice enough. ]

Do people have pets here? How’d you get them? [ He remembers Daenerys’ dragon, when he’d first started. ] …Besides the pet rocks. Those are dumb.

[ Kai considers it for a moment, before he responds. ]

That things almost as ugly as Newt is.

[The piglet's head whips around at being called ugly and he starts squealing and grunting, head lowered ready to attack.]

He's very vain. You probably shouldn't call him that.

[Says the voice from behind the camera.]

What do I care if I hurt his feelings? That's why I'm on this side of the screen.

[In response, Saizou snorts and headbutts the communicator, sending it clattering to the floor. The speakers on Kai's side probably just let out an ear-splitting screech.]

Saizou!

[The camera is dark, but there's the sound of an animal jumping to the ground and squealing as it runs off.]

[ Kai frowns at the thing, deciding not to say anything further for the moment.

Apparently he's said enough, as far as these things go. ]

[There's a sigh and then the communicator is picked up, giving Kai a glimpse of the piglet's owner before it goes dark.]

I did tell you not to insult him.

That was Saizou, my pet piglet.

Yeah, but you showed him to me first.

[ He should have been warned. And huh, so that's a pig. ]

Didn't think those were usually pets.

You asked about pets. [So he showed Kai his.]

He's unusual as a pet, but he's a wonderful friend. Pigs are quite loyal and this one is especially feisty.

I got the feisty. You have enough space for him?

I guess he doesn't chew on wires?

[ahappylie]

[He laughs a little.]

Mmhm~ He's only a little piglet. It's not hard to find space for him.

[Saizou grunts in the background, like he's protesting being called "little."]

And he's usually very well behaved. I keep him fed on scraps and grains, so he really doesn't need to chew on anything else. Other than the occasional toy.

[ Kai hears that kind of thing all the damn time. ]

Oh, of course he does, but he has to learn his manners somehow. Being here has been good training for him.

[Him and Okita both. Being around foreigners and aliens and elves and everything else in between has really helped broaden his horizons.]
