[Cole doesn't usually sleep, so waking up is very unfamiliar. He doesn't usually feel the cold or heat much, so the deep coldness in his bones is alien.

He jerks upright with a gasp, hands scrabbling at the back of his neck and then he vanishes in a puff of black-green smoke and reappears in the corner of the room, pressing himself back into it, staring around with wide eyes.]

Whispering, watchful, wakeful, wondering, where?

[He then spends a while patting things around him like the floor and wall, whispering under his breath.

In all honesty, he'll stay in that room until someone convinces him to leave and go elsewhere. It's not like he has to leave for any reason.]

[A strange thing to ask a spirit, but Cullen's come to understand his importance to the Inquisition--and the Inquisitor, even if he makes him a bit... uncomfortable.]

[Cole brightens a little when he sees Cullen. Cullen might be uncomfortable with Cole, but Cole finds Cullen's presence comforting. Even just his voice and image are enough to provide some soothing.]

I'm not hurt. Just a bit worried about being alone. Are you all right? Is it hurting you badly?

[He cuts right to the heart, doesn't he? Cullen will just ignore that last bit.]

You won't be alone for long. The Inquisitor will surely come find you as soon as she's able, and then we'll see about getting you settled.

And... I've been well. [You know, the usual nightmares and his lover not actually coming from a time when she was his lover, but things are looking up. Also, space. That's weird.]

I like this inquisitor. She's not the one I knew, but she's nice.

He doesn't apologise. It doesn't occur to him that someone might apologise for that.
