First Spell ☠ Video & Action

Who: Dorian Pavus & You!
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: Lyuku & Marsiva
When: 9/13

Video;;
[ Waking up in an unfamiliar place surrounded by unfamiliar things is certainly high on the list of disturbing things Dorian has experienced, on par with seeing a future that should never exist. It takes little time to figure this communicator business out, and somehow, he knows how to operate it despite never having seen it. Mark number two for 'this place is disturbing'. After a while, he opens the communicator and turns on the video feed. That is a very well-manicured mustache.. ]

From what I understand, and feel free to correct if I'm mistaken, but we've been spirited away by a seemingly-benevolent entity. Furthering that, we are given information that, by all accounts, should be impossible, yet here we are!

[ This entire tirade is complimented by a wide flourish, gesturing to his surroundings. ]

What, you thought that was simply the beginning? Turns out, we visit entirely different places, and this one happens to have something happening to it. A might convenient, I daresay. Oh, but let's not forget, we're entertainment! Steal the spotlight, win the show and get to leave. Sounds simple enough, but has this actually happened to anyone you are aware of?

Lyuku;;
[ The streets are colorful, if not a bit crowded, but not unpleasant. It's difficult to not want to spend hours winding through the stalls of the bazaar. He has a few credits to spend, but Dorian doesn't feel the immediate need to part with them in case there is something that strikes his fancy at the end. However, that won't stop him from browsing and trying to get a better deal. Maybe he stops to feed a strawberry to one of those dragonesque lizards. Definitely not picking it up, though. It can stay right where it is. He could also be found perusing the more mystical wares- tables of crystals and bottled herbs that he's absolutely unfamiliar with but intrigued by. ]

Fortune Telling;;
The beck and call of a few extra credits doesn't elude him, though really he doesn't see how he has the 'look' of a fortune teller- and he would have had half a mind to be offended had she meant anything by it. The orange-skinned woman had wanted a bit of shut eye, so Dorian finds himself sitting under a canopy surrounded by lots of musty tapestry and gleaming strands of beads. The crystal ball and stack of cards could be laughable. If he weren't superb at being incredibly charming. ]

I have a good sense about your future, care for a reading?

Wildcard;;
[ Hit Dorian up with something else! On the Marsiva, seeing the sights? Sure! ]

[ooc note: those who wish to make TDM threads canon and want to continue, feel free!]

[Blood magic pales compared to what Atroma can do.]

Over a year and a half now. I know of one or two who have been here longer yet. How long we stay depends on Atroma's whimsy, it seems.

[If there's a rhyme or reason to it, no one has yet to understand it.]

And I'm forgetting my manners, as usual. I'm Riona.

["House". Nobility then of some sort. And there's something faintly familiar about his accent, though she can't quite place it.]

Normally at this point, long ingrained habits would bid me to say something exaggerated and kind about your House, or maybe an amusing story, but you may very well not even be from my world. I can't say I recognize the name. It's certainly not Fereldan, if that means anything to you.

[Yup, definitely from Thedas.

Riona knows she should rise above it and be mature, but you know, she just doesn't plain feel like it.]

Ah yes. Bloody dog lords and their muddy, smelly country.

[She smiles, all false sweetness.]

You know, since we're both from Thedas, I suppose I can introduce myself a bit more properly. [Uh oh.] Riona Cousland Theirin, at your service.

Bears live in forests. Ferelden has a lot of forests. Therefore, a lot of bears.

[Therefore, deal with it.]

Ah, I'm so sorry. My dear husband usually handles those. I mostly just sit around and look threatening, since he's far too nice. [...okay that's actually not entirely untrue.] But, I think I know just what he would say: you're not Fereldan and we're the only ones allowed to complain about Ferelden, so therefore, shut your Imperial piehole. [She huffs out a laugh.] I mean, really. It's always the dogs everyone aims for first. So unoriginal.

[The compliment mollifies her a bit. Not that she was seriously upset to begin with, but she's the queen. She can't just hear her country insulted, however jovially, and not fire back.]

Much of the country is beautiful, yes. Underrated, I'd say. [That little comment about home makes her tilt her head curiously.] Your home must be pretty unpleasant if you still prefer the wet dog smell over it.

["A fair amount" is what she'd say, but then that'd make her a hypocrite. Insulting someone else's homeland and all after telling them to shut their piehole about hers.]

Thedas does love to have its share of pressing issues. What current one are you wrapped up in back home?

Ah, so you're with the Inquisition then? [She's heard plenty about it, both here and back home.] Leliana told me a fair bit about it when she was here. The Inquisitor even reached out to me not too long ago after that business with Clarel and Adamant.

I think most people are surprised to meet someone from Tevinter who's not evilly twirling a mustache and behaving like a villain. Magisters don't exactly have the best reputation in our neck of the woods.

[Stroud. Never met the man, but she's heard enough to know he was a damn good Warden.]

So I've heard. Maker rest his soul. Never easy to hear about the death of a good man, but as a Warden, he'd have to face his end in time. He made it worth something.

[Huh. He's honest about his country and its people. Kudos to him for that, in her book.]

Ferelden has its share of that, too. Though I suppose every place does, to some extent. Some are more interested in bettering themselves than bettering their home.

[People suck.]

The Nightmare. Yes, he... died a hero's death. [She sighs.] I know the Wardens played a part in that, in creating that mess. If I had had any idea what Clarel was doing, I would have intervened. For what little it's worth, on behalf of the Wardens, I'm sorry. We should be better than that, but fear took us, and we failed.

I never really interacted with her. Just knew her because of her rank. I... I don't know. As a Warden-Commander, I feel like I should have done something. But I had no idea what had happened until it was over. [Some part of her wonders if she should step up and take responsibility for the remaining Wardens, but her mission is so important. And time is running out.] I'm glad the Inquisition is working with them, despite what happened. Thedas can't afford for the Wardens to fall.

[+10 friendship points for you, Dorian.]

Mercy gets you a lot farther than ruthlessness, I've found. Perhaps because it seems so uncommon in Thedas that people just don't know what to do with themselves when presented with it.
