[ Waking up in an unfamiliar place surrounded by unfamiliar things is certainly high on the list of disturbing things Dorian has experienced, on par with seeing a future that should never exist. It takes little time to figure this communicator business out, and somehow, he knows how to operate it despite never having seen it. Mark number two for 'this place is disturbing'. After a while, he opens the communicator and turns on the video feed. That is a very well-manicured mustache.. ]

From what I understand, and feel free to correct if I'm mistaken, but we've been spirited away by a seemingly-benevolent entity. Furthering that, we are given information that, by all accounts, should be impossible, yet here we are!

[ This entire tirade is complimented by a wide flourish, gesturing to his surroundings. ]

What, you thought that was simply the beginning? Turns out, we visit entirely different places, and this one happens to have something happening to it. A might convenient, I daresay. Oh, but let's not forget, we're entertainment! Steal the spotlight, win the show and get to leave. Sounds simple enough, but has this actually happened to anyone you are aware of?

Lyuku;;
[ The streets are colorful, if not a bit crowded, but not unpleasant. It's difficult to not want to spend hours winding through the stalls of the bazaar. He has a few credits to spend, but Dorian doesn't feel the immediate need to part with them in case there is something that strikes his fancy at the end. However, that won't stop him from browsing and trying to get a better deal. Maybe he stops to feed a strawberry to one of those dragonesque lizards. Definitely not picking it up, though. It can stay right where it is. He could also be found perusing the more mystical wares- tables of crystals and bottled herbs that he's absolutely unfamiliar with but intrigued by. ]

Fortune Telling;;
The beck and call of a few extra credits doesn't elude him, though really he doesn't see how he has the 'look' of a fortune teller- and he would have had half a mind to be offended had she meant anything by it. The orange-skinned woman had wanted a bit of shut eye, so Dorian finds himself sitting under a canopy surrounded by lots of musty tapestry and gleaming strands of beads. The crystal ball and stack of cards could be laughable. If he weren't superb at being incredibly charming. ]

I have a good sense about your future, care for a reading?

Ah, there's something I've missed terribly from home. Immediate distrust because of my homeland. Now I feel complete.

[Fenris' lip curls. A part of him wants to turn the feed off and walk away now. But that would mean not having his SAY in this and he simply can't let that slide. ]

Our homeland. And the distrust is well founded.

I can't argue with that, there's an immeasurable amount of things that have gone on for too long. That being said.. I'm nothing like my countrymen, and I'd wager neither are you. Especially considering you are an elf, and I'm aware of their status in Tevinter.

[Just going to put that right out there and call it what it is. He doesn't seem all that convinced, but that is less about Dorian and more about the fact he really, really hates Tevinter. Nothing good comes out of it. Nothing. Not even him. ]

You will have to excuse my scepticism. I find it hard to believe anyone within the Imperium who isn't a slave would wish for any decent change in the place. Allowing the status quo is the perfect way to rise through the ranks. To turn a blind eye. Thinking otherwise is suicide there.

[ Aw, come on, buddy. Some things from Tevinter are pretty great. Like the spices. Those are pretty legit. Blood magic, slavery, and evil darkspawn less so. ]

I'm aware of the 'system' that the Imperium has adapted through the ages.. if you'd like to call it that. The power remains in the families with seats in the Magisterium, those who are not suffer for it. Some would rather see Tevinter restored to its former..glory, but anyone decent can see why that is a very bad idea for everyone. Nobody wins in this scenario, less so the lower classes.

Incidentally, that is one of the reasons I left, and why I joined the Inquisition.

[He listens, at least. He remains tense, unsettled, untrusting. You can't let anyone from Tevinter get under your skin, that was a hard earned lesson. The higher classes especially had a way of speaking silver tongued words that were laced with poison. Never to be trusted or taken at face value. ]

The Inquisition. [A Vint in the Inquisition. That must have gone down like a lead balloon. ] So what, exactly do you wish to see changed?

[ It certainly helped his case that time magic was involved and he conveniently knew the connection and figured out a way to get things back to normal. ]

Well, there are rather a lot of things that need reform. The slavery, for one. More control of magic in some aspects. Numerous things require change, but no one in the Magisterium will speak out and cause a stir. I'm aware of that.

[More silence. Dorian is at least raising himself from "potential murder victim" to "may be openly snubbed". It's not great, but it's...something. ]

No, they won't. Honestly, it would be better to raze the entire blighted place to the ground. It is admirable that you want to change it- rare considering ...I am assuming you're in the Altus class? But ultimately, you are highly likely to fail.

Probably even get yourself killed.

That may be so, but I would much rather attempt to change it from the inside instead of creating something new from old ideas. It may fail, but I can't simply let it be another century of tradition.

I am an Altus, yes. Dorian of House Pavus, now that we're finally getting around to introductions.

It is an honourable attempt. You might actually be insane in trying it. But it is honourable all the same.

[He goes through his mental Rolodex of names that's more than a little rusty after being so long from the Imperium. Ah yes. He thinks he knows the family. He doesn't smile in recognition. He's still an Altus, and Altus who wants to change things, yes, but one that still grew up in a certain level of privilege that no other person living in Tevinter would ever know. ]

I would say it's a shame we didn't meet under better circumstances.. though I'm not certain that situation exists.

I do not like mages. Generally. With good reason.

[A long pause. ]

I especially do not like mages from Tevinter. So that would be why.

Both typically bad things, worse when compounded together.

...Yes, the scathing expression and your noise of disgust rather put that into perspective.

Given the suffering I had at the hands of a magister, you can hardly blame me. My tattoos are made of lyrium. Something my former master branded into me.

I can't say that I blame you for it.. You've a right to be furious.
