the veil is thin . . .

[ On the night of the 16th, the feeling of tension and horrid anticipation comes to a head. Everything stops when the sun goes down-- even the ever-present music in the hoppingest part of the city center. One by one, everyone turns their eyes to the skies. The young and old alike pour out of their houses, some in bare feet, and they point to the velvety blanket of stars.

It takes a second to find it, especially if one is unaccustomed to the starscape. But even a casual observer can see it.

A brightly-shining star, larger than the others, and growing larger.

An announcement cuts across all communication channels that encourages people to evacuate to the space station, but it’s clear that these are just people and they’ll need some help. Supplies, equipment, organization, there’s something for everyone to do.

Civilization is disrupted by a panicked stampede of people vying for limited seats aboard spacefaring craft. Within hours, there will be crushed glass, looting, and chaos.

The clock is ticking. Will you help? Or would you rather watch the dying gasps of a Singing Planet from a safe distance? ]

[Kind of just. Stares at her.] ...worth the trip? Are you- [Holds up a hand,] Are you saying it was worth it to watch a Planet die?

(She comes out of her memories, head cocking.) It was going to happen regardless of what I wanted. We have to make the best of our circumstances.
moseyin: (i turned all the mirrors around)

There's no best of these circumstances, [Cloud argues hotly, waving a hand back at the mourning survivors. He's a 'glass half-empty' kinda guy sometimes, sorry Light] Their home's gone. They've lost friends and family. They're allowed to be angry!
soulsflight: (it's like I'm in flight)

(She used to be that way too. He's making her nostalgic.) Be angry. Lash out. Cry. Scream. You can do all of it and you know what? It doesn't change a damn thing.

I wanted to rip the world apart once. I wasn't the only one either. Then a god decided I needed to set my feet on a different path. I shut myself away; I didn't let myself feel much of anything.

(She had been slumbering before she was crystallized.)

I know how they feel. They have to fight...or agree with the terms of another.
moseyin: (that live in my head)

[personal profile] moseyin 2017-10-02 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
I'll pick fighting, thanks. Already had some asshole wannabe 'god' try to tell me who to be. [So you can probably take all that mystic mojo about paths and ferrying souls and fate and gods and stuff it somewhere unpleasant]
soulsflight: (drunk from my hate)

[personal profile] soulsflight 2017-10-02 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Fine by me. I prefer to fight too. (But not everyone is like them.) They don't have the power to do it as they are right now.

(By they, she means the people they've rescued and/or lost.)
moseyin: (a chest filled with diamonds and gold)

[Glances over and...deflates. She's right. That's a group of mourners; nobody's ready to go get some answers, or to fight back. And Cloud remembers what that feels like too, so he can't exactly blame them.

Still. He's got all this anger and upset and nowhere to direct it, so instead he just turns away from Lightning and heads for the shuttles. He needs to go beat something up and the gym on the Iskaulit is calling his name.]
