[ On the night of the 16th, the feeling of tension and horrid anticipation comes to a head. Everything stops when the sun goes down-- even the ever-present music in the hoppingest part of the city center. One by one, everyone turns their eyes to the skies. The young and old alike pour out of their houses, some in bare feet, and they point to the velvety blanket of stars.

It takes a second to find it, especially if one is unaccustomed to the starscape. But even a casual observer can see it.

A brightly-shining star, larger than the others, and growing larger.

An announcement cuts across all communication channels that encourages people to evacuate to the space station, but it’s clear that these are just people and they’ll need some help. Supplies, equipment, organization, there’s something for everyone to do.

Civilization is disrupted by a panicked stampede of people vying for limited seats aboard spacefaring craft. Within hours, there will be crushed glass, looting, and chaos.

The clock is ticking. Will you help? Or would you rather watch the dying gasps of a Singing Planet from a safe distance? ]

aizawa's already got his comm out, checking his inbox to make sure he didn't miss any texts from ochako so he's only half paying attention to hermione when he answers, blankly,] You're welcome.

[ Magic is good for something, even if she's getting too close to exhaustion for comfort.

All the same, she turns to face the stranger, watching him for a few moments before she drinks another bit of the water. She can refill it, so it doesn't matter, does it? ]

Is there anything you need help with?

Just making sure you're not bullshitting me, [aizawa drones, sending off a text with a few taps of his thumbs. it wouldn't be the first time someone had sworn up and down that they were 'just a little tired' only for them to eat dirt the second he turned around]

I - I don't do that. [ The worst swear Hermione granger has ever said in her life is prat, and that hardly counts. Her expression falters and she shakes her head, breathing out. ] I mean it, I'm really okay.

[looks up at her, looks her right in the eye...okay, well she's not swaying or having trouble focusing, so maybe he should believe her.

he still fishes an energy bar out of his pocket and holds it out for her to take.] For the road, then.

[ Hermione smiles softly, relaxing just a little before she crosses her arms behind her back and nods. ]

Thank you. [ She takes it, but then - um. ] I'm Hermione.

Aizawa. [points over at the tent far off in the distance with the hospital cross painted onto the tarp.] You need anything, I'm right over there.

I appreciate it, thank you. [ And she does, her expression softening. ] Is there anything you need? I'm happy to help, if you need some more water made or anything magical doing.

Can you replicate medical supplies? Saline, antiseptics, things like that.

I can duplicate them if there are still some left? [ She perks up, obviously thrilled to be able to help. ] And I have medicinal potions I can give you.

Let's stick with the duplication. The people here are so superstitious, I don't want anybody refusing to take their medicine because it has a foul aura or whatever. [yeah he's had some fun with that today too] You good to leave here?

No, that makes sense. Magic isn't exactly for everyone. [ It's logical, and she appreciates the forethought. Pushing herself up, she nods her head. ] I can come back and make some more portkeys when I'm done helping you.

[sure, whatever those are. aizawa gives her a brief nod before turning to lead the way through the crowd back over to the tent. it's just as much chaos there too, which aizawa navigates with familiarity as he leads her over to the supply cabinet to point out what they need more of.] These vials here, all the bandages on this shelf, and the saline bags. Those are the most urgent.

[ She goes without any fussing, watching the people rushing around as she goes. At least she'll be getting back to them soon, and she feels anxiety bubble inside of her before she breathes out. It's easy for her to move along to where he points, nodding her head and waving her wand, things appearing as she speaks. ]

Do you have any idea how much more you might need, or shall I just make as much as I can? You can always ask me if you need more.

Pack the shelves. We're definitely going to run out of saline again at some point. [aizawa is already grabbing a couple bags up to head over and refresh some people's IVs that he can see are getting low.]

[ Hermione simply nods, moving along and starting to duplicate as many things as she can with her magic, focussing a little more - she doesn't want to mess this up, after all, not when lives are on the line. She wishes she could offer something more, but if a distrust of magic is present then... She's not sure what she can do, and the frown settles on her face. ]

[yeah don't feel bad hermione, someone refused his iv because supposedly saline is a 'tangerine tragedy.' aizawa had to sit and watch him drink two bottles of water before he could go.

after refreshing some ivs and checking on a couple patients aizawa comes back over to check her progress.] Pretty useful, that. We've been having to send runners to nearby hospitals.

I used to be a far better healer, but the Atroma took that away from me when I woke up. [ No more magical healing bubbles, which is a shame, because she had been particularly fond of that power. If she had to choose between it and her transforming, though...

Either way, she shakes her head, looking over and offering a smile. ] You can just send runners to me, now, if you want. I don't mind coming back to help.

[that's...interesting. aizawa hasn't heard any first-person accounts on having their powers suppressed yet.

he picks through the vials until he finds the antibiotics, reaching past her for a wrapped syringe. someone's grandmother has pneumonia and she's going to need a close eye to make it through this.] I haven't met anyone who's had their powers taken. Do you mean you just can't use it, or it's completely gone?

It's gone. It wasn't really mine to begin with, it was a gift from the queen, but it was still my magic. Now I just can't use it. [ She frowns, her hand moving to press over her chest. ] My shard is gone too, I think, and that was something I was given as well.

And this 'shard' thing is something internal? [like an organ? that's even more disturbing.]

Yes. It was a piece of a huge gem that had been split to make all our worlds, and I had that shard inside me.

...that's disconcerting. [to say the least.] If we have time after all of this, do you mind if I ask you some questions?

That's how I felt when I woke up here. [ Strangely powerless, despite having all her magic. ] Of course not, I don't mind. I'm on the Vanquish and you can always use the communicators to message me.

Sure. I'll get you once this calms down. [he takes stock of everything she's duplicated in the supply cabinet, nodding.] Thanks for this, we're good for now. You can get back to that Portkey business.
