the veil is thin . . .
[ On the night of the 16th, the feeling of tension and horrid anticipation comes to a head. Everything stops when the sun goes down-- even the ever-present music in the hoppingest part of the city center. One by one, everyone turns their eyes to the skies. The young and old alike pour out of their houses, some in bare feet, and they point to the velvety blanket of stars.
It takes a second to find it, especially if one is unaccustomed to the starscape. But even a casual observer can see it.
A brightly-shining star, larger than the others, and growing larger.
An announcement cuts across all communication channels that encourages people to evacuate to the space station, but it’s clear that these are just people and they’ll need some help. Supplies, equipment, organization, there’s something for everyone to do.
Civilization is disrupted by a panicked stampede of people vying for limited seats aboard spacefaring craft. Within hours, there will be crushed glass, looting, and chaos.
The clock is ticking. Will you help? Or would you rather watch the dying gasps of a Singing Planet from a safe distance? ]

[It all happens slowly for Yuri and yet it's so fast. Kurt pulls the knife out in no time but it takes Yuri's brain a second to gather just what it is and that it's pointed at him. He notices the bared teeth... no, fangs after that. He slowly begins to decide if he'll run or try to talk him down. He is turning over words in his mind. "I'm friendly" "I'm from Twin Roses too, I'm here to help you." but it doesn't turn out to be necessary.
He exhales slowly. That happened so fast it was over before he could finish processing it.]
Y-yeah. No problem... are you alright? Has someone tried to hurt you? [The knife came out as a knee-jerk reaction. Was he used to being accosted by hostile strangers? Was this new from the planet itself? Or an old habit?]
no subject
Didn't scare you too badly, did I? [He punctuates by upturning the bottle of water and draining roughly half of it in one long gulp. Kurt's well aware he could make himself sick pulling that stunt on an empty stomach, but he's also aware of how parched his throat is.]
no subject
[Well, he's a bit naive and very new to this battle thing. He doesn't get it, he is very sure he's the only one on the Twin Roses who is a non-combatant. He is also sort of suspicious if that wasn't a decision made for someone's amusement.]
I... I had no idea, I'm sorry... I didn't mean to sneak up on you. I was just trying to help. N-no you're fine. We're all on edge right now, we just need to look out for each other.
[He sees the water goes to good use. Well, that was progress. He did a good!]
Can I bring anything else? Here, are you hungry? [He has a protein bar in his other hand.] Vash is wearing himself out too. Take a break, just a few minutes, there's no sense in wearing yourself out so much that you get lost here too.
