the veil is thin . . .

[ On the night of the 16th, the feeling of tension and horrid anticipation comes to a head. Everything stops when the sun goes down-- even the ever-present music in the hoppingest part of the city center. One by one, everyone turns their eyes to the skies. The young and old alike pour out of their houses, some in bare feet, and they point to the velvety blanket of stars.

It takes a second to find it, especially if one is unaccustomed to the starscape. But even a casual observer can see it.

A brightly-shining star, larger than the others, and growing larger.

An announcement cuts across all communication channels that encourages people to evacuate to the space station, but it’s clear that these are just people and they’ll need some help. Supplies, equipment, organization, there’s something for everyone to do.

Civilization is disrupted by a panicked stampede of people vying for limited seats aboard spacefaring craft. Within hours, there will be crushed glass, looting, and chaos.

The clock is ticking. Will you help? Or would you rather watch the dying gasps of a Singing Planet from a safe distance? ]

Keeping a clear he's important. You don't panic and they'll listen to you.

[He'll just stand by in case that doesn't work.]

Snow Villiers. Not sure that I would consider this the best sort of first meeting.
deviances: (come blazing your guns)

Yeah. I can usually keep a lid on panic.

[ Hahaha. ha. Let's just say The Order back home sucks. ]

Nah, definitely not the best sort of first meeting. But we'll get through it. Hell of a thing to show up for though, man.
heroofcocoon: (hope there's a reason)

[personal profile] heroofcocoon 2017-10-02 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
Good. You tell 'em what to do and I can make sure that they do it.

[Hi, you need an enforcer, right?]

I've had worse first meetings than this to be honest.
deviances: (write us off when the times are rough)

[ Hey, whatever works. He nods, his smile returning, a little. ] Sounds like a plan. [ Pause. ] And, yeah, I think I've had some worse first meetin's too. So. Fair enough.

[ Best start heading across the way with that box! Luckily, when they get there, the couple simply tell them where to put it and then thank them profusely. They aren't keen on raising much of a fuss - they're just happy to have their lives and their stuff, and besides, they're pretty tired. For obvious reasons.

Eithan's just glad to be able to help - and that Snow was cool with lending him a hand, too. ]
heroofcocoon: 13 (It's contrary to what we want)

[personal profile] heroofcocoon 2017-10-07 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
[After hefting the box over to the couple, Snow waves off their thanks, ready to get back to doing something useful. It saves him from thinking about other things.]

You been on the Fleet a long time or are you new as well?

[If he has to be social again, he can try and make his way through things gently.]
deviances: (hours and hours of stipulation)

[personal profile] deviances 2017-10-08 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
About a year, yeah. Little longer, I think. [ He sounds so thrilled about that. ] So you just got here? Goddess... what a time to show up. Ain't that always how it is, though...
heroofcocoon: (is this my fantasy?)

[personal profile] heroofcocoon 2017-10-09 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
Over a year... [Yeah, he sounds ecstatic over that. Very much so.]

Tell me if you know a good time to be kidnapped to a strange place like this. It's always gonna suck, I think. At least with this I have something to do for a while.
deviances: (I'll keep the miles)

[personal profile] deviances 2017-10-11 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
Guess that's one way to look at it, sure. [ He shrugs a shoulder. ] Kinda the opposite for me. Gettin' yanked here gives me some time to think. I guess. You know, when I'm not bein' distracted by all the fuckin' crazy around here...

[ But he smiles, a little. ]
heroofcocoon: 13 (You bring death)

[personal profile] heroofcocoon 2017-10-15 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Snow frowns. He'd been ready to die, ready to fight Claire so she'd put him out of his agony after so long alone. As if reading his thoughts, a bright blue light shines through the black fabric of his sleeve and he bites back a shout.]

I'll take the crazy around here. Nothing good comes from time to think in my experience.
deviances: (you can have it back)

[personal profile] deviances 2017-10-16 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
[ Whoa, that's bright light - and whoa, that's a surge of magic. Hunh. It's so sudden that Eithan can't help but glance down, surprised, but he looks back up to Snow quickly enough. ]

Whoa. You okay? What...?

[ He doesn't want to be completely nosy, but at the same time, how do you not comment on something like that? ]
heroofcocoon: (I'm screaming out your name)

[personal profile] heroofcocoon 2017-10-18 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
[It takes a minute of slow breathing, but when he speaks, it's not in a lot of pain, though he does reach over to grab that spot on his arm. As if to stop the light from shining.]

It's nothing. Just... happens sometimes. It was a gift. From a friend.

[The last part he even means. He'd asked for it.]
