ᴀᴜᴅɪᴏ/ᴀᴄᴛɪᴏɴ | what can i do
Who: Dezel and you
Broadcast: Yes
Action: Lyuku, Malum.
When: Anytime up to the 21st.
[audio;]
[A rough voice, unaccustomed to talking too much, but distinctive in its grumpiness.]
Animals need to be evacuated, too. Don't forget about them.
[And also:]
There are drinks at the Malum if you need to take a break. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Dying foolishly doesn't make you a hero, it makes you an idiot.
[Not that it'll dissuade any of these people.]
-----
[action; lyuku]
[Dezel's always had a way with animals, so he's mostly found rounding up livestock and pets that were forgotten about. Whether they're fluffy or scaly, he finds a place for them. After a couple hours he has a collection of tiny birds and reptiles all nestled into his jacket or his hat, but it doesn't slow him down any.
Some people might see a random line of livestock walking down the road. Others might see a shade carrying a little girl with a bandaged ankle (or perhaps she is floating). The girl keeps crying incoherently for her mother. And so, Dezel turns to you, whether you're familiar to him or not. He flips open his comm to help echo his voice.]
Her mother should be looking for her. Let's split up.
[Crewmates and anyone with regular business at the Malum, where he works, should be able to see him-- but at the very least, he can be heard through the communicator.]
[action; malum]
[Seraphim don't need to sleep, not really, and far be it from Dezel to take a nap while there's stuff going on. He goes back to the Malum instead. The food he makes is all hearty filling stuff that'll help keep people going, regardless of what the menu usually ispretentious plates with cherry tomatoes and a squiggle of sauce; the big batch of Space Pendrago Stew smells criminally good.
There's a discount if you order it with hard alcohol, which should encourage people to eat before going back out there.]

Prolly action
[He says this, and yet he does not deny it being a thing. As always, it's the delicate game of Crowley pretending to not give a shit when he, in fact, gives all the shits.]
You're going to make people think I'm some sort of samaritan.
definitely action
You can take it out of my pay if you want. [He shrugs.] Let them think what they will-- I doubt this'll change anything.
Anyway, if we don't lure them in now, I'm gonna have to scrape them off the floor when they inevitably screw up planetside. This is easier.

[He lets out a disgruntled noise, like he's reluctantly being convinced to this way of thinking. His life would be a lot easier if he didn't feel the need to keep this uncaring charade up, but here we are. ]
Hmm, I do enjoy it when things are easier and I have to work less.
And by I, I mean you lot, but you know that.
no subject
The less you work, the more I get paid. I don't see the problem.

action; lyuku
That doesn't last long.
Matt's down on the surface right when the screams start, at least trying to do what he can to keep people calm. He cheats a little bit, to stay out of people's way, confident that the chaos will mask any unusual spryness to the point where nobody will remember or care that they saw a blind man neatly sidestep some rushing police members he couldn't possibly have seen coming.
But then he notices (feels, hears) a man walking up with a sobbing little girl, and Matt knows immediately he can't just stand there, cover be damned. He jogs over, really only barely pretending to use his cane as he reaches out for her.] Do you need- [But then comes the man's voice, curiously tinny. Matt stops, tilting his head even as he takes the girl to balance her on his hip. What's that he holding, a phone?]
no subject
Her mother, [he says again.] There should be a woman calling for her daughter in this mess-- the girl's name is Amelie. I'll comb through the crowd that way, toward the tower. If I find the woman I'll send her over.
Can you handle looking over here? [He can move faster when he's not holding someone, let alone a human girl who will screech at breaking the speed of sound.]
no subject
I can. I think there's a tent where they're reuniting people who've been split up, too.
no subject
[The breeze touches Matt's shoulder coolly, lightly, as if testing him. With the girl transferred fully into Matt's hold, Dezel doesn't bother excusing himself... He's just gone, leaving a little dust devil in his wake.]
no subject
He does end up taking the girl over to the tent, and stays with her as well just in case something happens. He's not going to rule out people snatching up a child and claiming she's their to get on an earlier shuttle, not when it's so common in human history.
Plus, he kind of wants to find out more about the guy who moves like wind. He's unpredictable, and though he has an audible heartbeat Matt's never seen someone who could just vanish like that, and misdirect with wind as well. He wants to sniff him out and get a better handle on how he moves.
The little girl won't stop crying even as he sits with her, so he lets her play with his glasses with a promise to be very careful. It seems to calm her down a little bit at least, and though Matt's itching to get back out there and do something useful (maybe find a place to slip into his slipshod costume and get some real work done), he wouldn't be able to forgive himself if something happened to the girl because he left her here.]
no subject
Found her, [Dezel says simply.] Thanks for watching over the girl.
no subject
No problem, [he answers, to them both, and waits for the mother to take her child away before turning in Dezel's vague direction.] She didn't know you were there?

I've been using the communicator to project my voice, since otherwise you can't hear me.

no subject
Yeah. I'm a seraph-- a kind of nature spirit. There are a couple others like me in the Fleet. You probably wouldn't notice them unless they wanted you to.
no subject
That's a little alarming. Are they all wind spirits like you? [Because it's kinda obvious.]
no subject
Just one. The rest are water and earth.

[A pause, and a sort of glance toward where a woman and her reptiles wait nervously in line.]
Animals always know I'm here.
action; malum
He's not alone. He's got company with him: five brightly-colored lizards! Two small, rainbow-speckled ones on top of his head, two slightly larger rainbow-speckled ones on the counter peering at his tall glass of something-strong-and-cold, and one tiny one - clearly a baby - that's curled up on Eithan's shoulder half-buried into his coat, for warmth.
Eithan doesn't seem to mind them at all. Even as he eats, he's careful about not disturbing them. Though, he does wonder... He looks up, peers into the back to see who's around. ]
Hey uh... Weird question! Got any fruit? Or somethin'?
no subject
Give him about a minute, though, and he pops out with a bowl of chopped up strawberries and a spoon.]
Try this.
no subject
But then the cook comes out with a bowl of strawberries and a spoon, and Eithan smiles, delighted. ]
Hey, buds, look what the cook brought out for you!
[ He scoops some berries onto the spoon, then sets it on the counter. And, of course, they're IMMEDIATELY curious, scurrying over from their various positions to start nibbling at it. He grins, amused, then looks up at Dezel and nods. ]
Thanks, man. Pretty sure they're already lovin' it.
no subject
Fruit makes up most of their diet. I heard the handler talking about it. [Not that he trusts lizard farmers, but.] I tried introducing them to something else. They like apples all right and lettuce is fine in a pinch, but strawberries are the best thing for them.
no subject
Good to know... I was just kinda guessin' since I couldn't figure out anything else. These guys just kinda hitched a ride with me, you know? And like hell was I gonna leave 'em.
[ He likes animals, after all. ♥ ]

[Action | Lyuku]
When he sees a man carrying a little girl, he dodges anyone in his way to get over to them, already reaching out to take the kid from the person carrying her.]
I can take a look at that leg of hers if you want to go looking for the woman.
[Any abnormalities he sees or hears are being noted but disregarded for now. This kid, and hopefully the mother when she's found, definitely come before his curiosity.]
I'm so sorry for not responding to this. Feel free to drop it if you want!
Thanks. I'll send her mother over if I find her. [There's a small chance she's already been evacuated, but most likely she's still milling around in the crowd looking for her kid.] Are you going to stay here or take her out of the way?
