[she quietly folds up the impressive piece of jewelry and slips it into her pocket. she's normally kind of awkward, and having the door closed should have made her nervous--but she seems very on-point today.]

Well, I don't know if I should tell you. Are you going to go finish the job?

[dawnwillcome]

[Yeah, she deserved that.]

No. If I had known the dragon was Tek none of this would have happened.

[ladiesss]

It doesn't sound like you tried very hard to find out.

[her voice is so small, but there's a definite edge to it. she's mad.]

Have you ever killed anyone?

[ladiesss]

No. [kind of true.] But I've had the chance to.

[dawnwillcome]

[It's not surprising, really, that someone so young would have had the desire or the opportunity for something so violent, but it is unfortunate. It's something they can talk about another time, perhaps, when there aren't more important things to deal with.]

And lets say that you had, or you thought you had, but then it turned out everything you thought you knew about the situation was wrong. You feel regret, but you aren't stupid enough to think a simple apology will change the fact that you tried to kill someone you'd grown to like.

[It's strange that that comes out so easily, that she likes Tek, but in the heat of the moment she's said it and she can't argue with herself that it's true. They had their moments, but in the end she'd come out liking him. And now look what she's done.]

So, take all of that into consideration and then tell me if you would make it clearly known that you're looking for the person in question. I have no plans to hurt Tek, but why would I make an open call looking for him when I have no guarantee other people won't try to finish the job? I'm not going to risk putting him in more danger just because I feel bad.

[ladiesss]

[she frowns. what she says takes some of the fight out of her. she's not... nearly as tough and full of indignant rage as she likes to think she is. she can't actually look her in the eye for the rest of it.]

Did Dorian tell you what I am?

[As much as Jove wanted to get her point clearly across, cowing this girl was never her intention. Just one more thing to regret and feel guilty for, she supposes, and she can't even reach out and put a comforting hand on Krista's shoulder.

Everything about this is bound and determined to be horrible, it seems.]

He didn't. He's very good at keeping secrets.

Okay. Well, I'm... Not feeling good about how my friends seem to think it's okay to hunt down whatever magical creature shows up just because it's there.

Tek is my friend too. A good one. [she bites the inside of her lip for a second.] What if that was me, you know? Would you guys have all come to gang up on me, too?

[dawnwillcome]

[This is too much. Jove takes a step forward, her hand lifting just slightly to reach out to Krista.]

I think we've all - everyone from my world, I mean - learned something from this. Dragons in my world are mindless killing machines, and I got caught up in that. It was stupid and I regret it, and it's not the sort of thing that will ever happen again.

[Not without cause. Not without planning and checking and double checking that violence was the only option.]

And we didn't hunt him for fun, I hope you're aware of that. We thought we were protecting the town, and he had already hurt the people on that planet.

[ladiesss]

Yeah, because he's six stories tall and they tried to hurt him first.

[she shrugs away from being touched.]

If I tell you where Tek is, will you go and apologize to him?

[dawnwillcome]

[She expected that. There's no excusing this, and Jove isn't looking for forgiveness. She lets her hand drop, moves both of them behind her back so Krista doesn't see the way they shake before she clenches them into fists.]

That had been the intention. If you won't tell me, I can't blame you, but let me give you something to take him.

[ladiesss]

Nah. You're gonna see him yourself.

[she doesn't want to be the middleman for that. Tek will extract his vengeance on his crewmate way better than she ever could. she's just here to make sure she feels terrible and apologetic before she sends her Tek's way.

so, in a turn of events, she reaches up to pat Jove on the shoulder.]

I get it, okay? You guys saw something dangerous and wanted to protect people. So I'm not... mad at you, I'm just. Frustrated. And I don't want it to happen again.

[dawnwillcome]

[Whether or not Krista is angry has little impact on Jove, because it isn't her place to say if Krista has that right or not. If she's angry she's angry, if she wants revenge that's understandable.

But Jove isn't a child, the marks on her face declare her a grown woman to the world and the act of patting her on shoulder can only be taken as condescending. She doesn't react to it.]

If I knew where he was, I'd have gone by now.

[ladiesss]

[that's fair. it's not exactly out of the goodness of her heart.

she takes her hand back. ends up fidgeting with her nails instead. it makes her look a lot more like the teenager she is and not the adult that she is pretending really hard to be.]

He's on the Bloodsport. I think the captain will just let you on.

And he doesn't look so good, so... Just, be prepared for that.
