[Kitty is still in her bedroom where she's been for the past two months when the video opens.]

If the timestamps I'm seeing are right then I'm surprised I don't have a long beard by now. That's a Rip Van Winkle joke for any of the non-earthlings who think maybe I can grow a beard.

So, I'm Kitty Pryde for anyone who just showed up. Just so you know I still have seniority over you. I could take your lunch money any time I want. And hi. Any new mutants? Maybe some Avengers who should be mutants, but they aren't because timelines are funny that way? [Wanda and Pietro were strange, okay?]

I haven't flipped through much of the network yet. Feel free to do a roll call. Let me know you're here—new, old, returned, twice baked, whatever. Did I miss anything fun? Maybe some birthdays? Oh, right, like mine. [She picks up some pretty and unusual stones and nudges an illustrated physics book. She speaks softer.] Maybe someone remembered.

[Scrolling through some old network posts and her eyes widen slightly.] Maybe I missed something not so fun...

[Her body feels lethargic and uninterested in all this moving she wants to do. But she's been out of commission and she feels the need to catch up. So she'll be looking for crewmates and visitors.]

Me too. Apparently I've been really bad at that lately. Probably all those late nights catching up with me. [Yeah, she knows it isn't that. She even gets the vibe that Vash has news with a capital N for her, but she still smiles back because it's good to see he's still here. It's so hard to know how much has changed in two months. She could have lost any number of friends and crewmates. She already tried calling Winn's old number just in case he'd come back while she was out. Of course he's not here though. He wouldn't have left her side.]

How was all that solo captaining? I assume you at least had a hand puppet of me or something to come up with the occasional order? [Because she is soooo order-y on a regular basis.]

Well, your beauty is very stunning. I may need to take a beauty nap as well if I'm going to keep holding the title of most handsome captain of the fleet.

[The banter comes easily. It's the next part that's hard.] It wasn't so bad at the start! Barking orders and if the crew didn't like my ideas I told them they were your ideas and to talk to you about it.

Then, well... [He takes a small breath.] I'm assuming you saw something about the latest "singing" planet we came to being struck and destroyed by a giant meteor?

No one calls you that. [Smirking a little. She has to play. Also, Kirk is a captain so... But in more grounded talk.]

I hadn't put it all together yet [plays fast and loose with what came first], but that sounds like what I'd skimmed past. Go ahead and give me the worst of it? Might as well start things off right.

Yeah, well, the good news is our crew was great. I'm very proud of how they each helped to get as many people off the planet as they could. They were all very braves and its honour to be part of their crew.

[Huh, boy the ceiling is suddenly very entertaining as Vash's eyes suddenly roll up towards the sky. It's all the warning Kitty gets as his speech slurs and he starts to fall forward towards the floor.

Night, night! He's very tired from playing captain for so long.]

[Before she can explain how there are many parallel versions of X-Men and not-exactly-X-Men that wind up in these places and how only she and Kurt are from the same world she's distracted by whatever he is about to tell her. It doesn't sound great, does it? Maybe if she hadn't been hanging on his next words she would have had instinct enough to move into a better position to catch the heavier man. As it is, she has just enough time and instinct to phase.
